Hollow Knight Silksong: How To Beat Forebrothers Signis and Gron (Boss Guide)

The Forebrothers Signis and Gron in Hollow Knight Silksong are part of an optional boss fight unless you are aiming for the True Ending in Act 3. This is one of the toughest fights in the game because you have to navigate the lava-filled arena while battling two bosses and their multiple minions.

To help you out, here’s how you can defeat the Forebrothers Signis and Gron in Hollow Knight Silksong. 

Location of Forebrothers Signis and Gron in Hollow Knight Silksong

Forebrothers Signis and Gron are located in the Deep Docks zone behind a simple gate. To unlock the gate, you need to use one Simple Key, which can be obtained as early as Act 1. Moreover, you also need the following ancestral arts to reach their location: 

• Swift Step (Run/Dash)
• Clawline (Grapling Hook)

Once you have both these abilities unlocked, follow these steps to reach Signis and Gron: 

• Start from Point A, after using the Simple Key on the locked door. 
• Run past all the enemies and jump over the platforms to Point B. You can pick up the Flintslate item on the way. 
• Use the Clawline ability on the hook at Point B to hang from it. Doing so unlocks the gate and lets you enter the lower section of Deep Docks. 
• Jump down, continue left, and climb up to Point C to open a shortcut for backtracking. 
• Hit the lever at Point D to create a temporary bridge to the left side. Cross the bridge and keep going left, and finally reach the boss arena. 

By opening the shortcut at Point C, you won’t have to go far right to reach the lower Deep Docks. 

Forebrothers Signis and Gron Boss Overview 

The Forebrothers Signis and Gron in Hollow Knight Silksong is a dual boss fight in a lava arena. At first, you only fight against Signis before he calls multiple different minions to aid him. After you reduce Signis’s health to about half, Gron joins the fight. Additionally, both bosses are immune to downward attacks due to having metal helmets. Lastly, all attacks from the bosses deal additional fire damage, except for contact damage. 

Signis’s Moveset

Signis weilds a staff with two flintstones at each end. All his attacks are horizontal, making it difficult for you to stay on the ground. Here are his moves: 

• Double Swing: Signis swings his staff in a wide arc and moves forward with each strike. The top of his staff shines before the attack begins. 
• Boomerang: Signis throws his staff like a boomerang that returns after some time. The boss himself stays stationary until the staff returns to him. 
• Jump: Signis jumps in the air to reposition himself.  
• Lava Fall: Lava occasionally falls in the middle of the arena after you defeat Signis.

Gron’s Moveset

Gron weilds a spear with a flintstone as the blade. All his attacks explode, making it difficult to get close to him. Here is his moveset: 

• Spear Throw: Gron jumps in the air and throws his spear at you, which explodes on contact. However, if he misses, the spear lodges in the ground and explodes after some time.  
• Downward Drop: If Gron is on top of you after jumping, he dashes downward and explodes upon hitting the ground.

How To Beat Forebrothers Signis and Gron: Tips and Tricks

Firstly, you have to equip the Magma Bell tool. Doing so makes the entire fight much easier, as you won’t take double damage from all attacks. You can get the Magma Bell from Forge Daughter, who is to the right of the bench you are going to run back from. Note that Magma Bell needs a few seconds to recharge after absorbing fire damage, which temporarily makes you vulnerable to taking double damage. 

Additionally, fight the bosses before starting Act 3. Any minions that spawn during the fight in Act 3 become void creatures. This makes the fight much harder, as minions gain more health and annoying AoE (Area of Effect) attacks. 

Now, here are some tips for the boss attacks: 

• Jump over the Boomerang attack by Signis and land in front of him to deal damage. The boss stays still, making him an easy target. 
• Defeat Signis before focusing on Gron. You are at a disadvantage when having a 2v1 fight. 
• Use the Tacks tool to deal heavy amounts of damage to Signis. 
• You can use Clawline to quickly reach Gron after he throws his spear. 
• Aerial tools like the Sting Shard are perfect for Gron. Throw one after he jumps up in the air. 
• You can use the falling lava in the middle to block Gron’s spear throw. This gives you enough time to heal or deploy tools.
