You’ll come face-to-face with several types of flying adversaries, including crow enemies in Hollow Knight Silksong. And they might throw you off, since your regular methods of attacking might not work all that well against them. Since they can fly, they’ll take a stab at you and then fly out of range. This especially becomes an issue if you’re trying to finish the Grey Lake area in Greymoor.

In this guide, we’ll discuss some tips for dealing with the craw or crow enemies in the game.

While they aren’t the toughest enemies you’ll face during the game, the craws are certainly some of the most annoying. These enemies often have unpredictable flying patterns, which makes jumping and attacking them a challenge. As soon as you jump up toward them, they might swoop in for a quick hit at you. During our playthrough, we found the following tips to be highly useful.

  • Master the timing of their attacks, even though you won’t always be able to predict their patterns. The best idea is to slash upward while being on the ground, as these enemies hover right above you.

  • The bigger crow enemies will also throw daggers at you while being in the air. Make sure you dodge out of the way of these daggers.

  • During your fight with the crows, you’ll need to constantly keep moving around. Items, such as the Drifter’s Cloak, can help you to quickly glide into the air to avoid attacks. Similarly, you should spam Swift Step to dash out of the way of incoming attacks. Keep in mind that Swift Step does not consume your silk, so you are free to use it as frequently as necessary.

  • Another item that’s highly useful against all kinds of flying enemies is the Curveclaw. You can buy this item from the ant NPC named Mottled Scarr in the Hunter’s March region. Curveclaw is a boomerang-type weapon that you can use to deal ranged damage against enemies that are just out of reach of normal attacks.

When fighting against these annoying crow enemies in Hollow Knight Silksong, patience is key. You cannot try and rush through the fight. Instead, take a more defensive approach and focus more on dodging attacks at first. As you do so, you will quickly realize when the openings are for you to sneak in a few attacks.
