The Wisp Thicket in Hollow Knight Silksong is one of the many side areas that you can explore. Getting to the location can be tricky, especially if it’s your first time in the game. The maps in Silksong can be convoluted, with several directions, a bunch of secret hidden areas, and breakable walls. So, you can easily get lost in these labyrinthine passages.
Wisp Thicket is an area that you can only access after you’ve progressed past the mid portion of the Second Act. In this guide, we’ll explain how you can get there and what you can expect to find once you’re there.
How To Reach Wisp Thicket in Hollow Knight Silksong
Before trying to access Wisp Thicket, make sure you have the Double Jump ability (Faydown Cloak) unlocked for Hornet. You’ll need to reach the absolute top of Mount Fay to grab this ability upgrade. Once you have it, reach the Greymoor area of the game. You should be able to reach this location during the game’s Act 2. Next, follow the steps below.
- Step 1: Head left towards the Bellway Station tower.
- Step 2: Climb to the top of this tower and take a right. This path leads to the second tower.
- Step 3: Climb this second tower and take the path on the left this time around.
- Step 4: You’ll now reach an area that’s full of spikes and flying enemies. Keep proceeding to the left while activating the fans.
- Step 5: After some time, you’ll reach a place where you can go up by using your Double Jump ability. This will take you to the Wisp Thicket area.

What Can You Find in the Wisp Thicket in Hollow Knight Silksong?
After reaching the Wisp Thicket, take a right to reach a bench. From there, take a left and keep proceeding to finally run into the Father of the Flame optional boss fight. This is a unique battle, where you can’t directly deal damage to the boss with your Needle strikes. Instead, you’ll need to aim for the fire braziers that hang off the boss’s body. Make sure you equip the Magma Bell tool to minimize incoming fire damage.
Besides the challenging boss battle, the Wisp Thicket is also home to a Bone Scroll. You can retrieve it and then sell it to Relic Seeker Scrounge. He’s in Bellhart, and the NPC will reward you with Rosaries for selling him the item. Also, if you go further right from the Bone Scroll location, you’ll be able to grab one of the 20 Mask Shards in the game. Collecting them all is definitely worthwhile, so make sure you get to it in the Wisp Thicket area.
