Hollow Knight Silksong introduces players to various difficult areas, but few are as dangerous as the Mist. This eerie area stands out for having no map and a procedurally generated exit. Hornet needs to find her way out as enemies stalk her relentlessly through this foggy level. The Mist can easily become a frustrating level for many, as it tests your attention to detail and combat skills.
To escape the Mist, you need to look out for the environmental clues. While the exit is randomized each time you enter, there are reliable ways to find the exit. Here’s how to survive the Mist and avoid being lost in the fog.
How To Reach the Mist in Hollow Knight Silksong
There are two entrances to the Mist, and neither affects the difficulty or layout of the area. The path through Sinner’s Road requires the Cling Grip and Needolin abilities to traverse. From Sinner’s Road, you need to enter through the top-right entrance to access the Mist.
The next way in is through the Bilewater area, which requires an additional Double Jump ability. This path becomes more accessible later in the game but has no advantage over the Sinner’s Road entrance.

How To Exit the Mist in Hollow Knight Silksong
The exit location in the Mist is always randomized, but if you pay close attention, you can get to it faster. Playing Needolin near a swarm of fireflies in the Mist will make them fly towards the exit. Although they move too quickly to follow directly, their movements give a reliable hint towards the direction of the exit.
Lastly, beware of the powerful enemies that will stalk Hornet in the Mist. They can phase through walls and platforms, emitting a scream before charging in. To defeat it, bait its charge, jump over it, and strike downward with an attack. This process must be repeated multiple times, but defeating it ensures a safer escape.
