Lies of P Overture, despite being a DLC, is still densely packed with things to do and explore. While the expansion isn’t on the same scale as the base game, it still takes quite a bit of time to go through the entirety of Overture. In fact, the DLC alone can easily last you weeks if you want to fully explore everything it has to offer. Coupled with the idea of replaying the whole game with the DLC, you can easily sink hundreds of hours into Lies of P Overture.

The newly released expansion essentially takes a page out of Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree’s book. Overture is a more condensed form of everything that worked and was great about the base game, with plenty of new surprises.

Here’s everything you need to know about Lies of P Overture’s completion time, for both a regular and a completionist playthrough.

On paper, Overture is roughly half the length of the base game. The DLC comes with five chapters, with each of these arcs lasting roughly 3 to 4 hours, depending on the amount of exploration you do. However, the starting and final chapters in the DLC are a bit shorter and can be completed in an hour. These two chapters mostly consist of boss fights and cutscenes. Bosses don’t take too long, at least on standard New Game.

However, if you’re on New Game+ or are new to souls-likes, the bosses in Overture can take significantly longer to beat. Levels in Overture are identical to the base game, with mostly linear corridors and limited optional paths.

As such, exploration won’t take up much of your time in the DLC. Overture also has a handful of NPC side quests. These quests are optional but can be completed quite easily. Most of your time in the DLC will be spent on either enemy encounters or boss fights. In keeping with the souls-like tradition, Overture is significantly more challenging than the base game.

Even if you’re on New Game+, you will find the bosses and even certain enemy encounters quite difficult and time-consuming. Thankfully, there are new “easier” difficulty options that can help you shave a few hours off your playthrough.

For a regular playthrough, completing Overture takes roughly 15 hours. However, if you’re going for a completionist playthrough and plan to get all the trophies, the DLC can easily last you 20 to 25 hours. It should be noted that it is possible to get all the trophies for the DLC in a single playthrough.

Does Lies of P Overture Have an Endgame?

Being a linear souls-like, similar to Dark Souls or Demon’s Souls, Overture does not have an endgame, at least in the traditional sense. However, there is a new feature added alongside the DLC that serves that purpose. With Overture’s release, developer Round 8 Studios has added a “boss rush” mode to Lies of P. The boss rush mode allows you to replay major boss fights from both the base game and the DLC.

Furthermore, there are different difficulty tiers for the boss rush mode and cosmetic rewards for clearing it. You can easily spend an additional 20 to 30 hours just playing through the boss rush mode.
