Lost Soul Aside features a single-player campaign that follows the stoic Kaser, who finds himself caught in the middle of a conflict between interdimensional entities. He fortuitously fuses with Lord Arena, a millennia-old dragon-like being who lends him strength. With his sister’s life and humanity’s survival at stake, Kaser embarks on an adventure across the realms to collect soul crystal fragments.

The game is divided into a prologue, five chapters, and an epilogue. After completing the main story, you unlock the Boss Rush mode and the Hard difficulty. The Boss Rush pits you against the game’s bosses in sequence with various trial options. Once you complete the main story again on Hard, you unlock the Nightmare difficulty.

The first chapter starts the game off at a slow pace. The initial hours are spent with only one weapon to defeat one boss after another. Once you obtain the Greatsword and meet Lord Arena to unlock Arena Powers, the game picks up steam. The hack-and-slash gameplay has a chance to shine with an expanded moveset and mobs of enemies. After this point, you unlock weapons and Arena Powers fairly regularly, keeping you engaged until the next boss battle.

It will take you at least three playthroughs of the story to achieve 100% completion: once on Normal, then again on Hard, and finally on Nightmare. You will also have to complete the Boss Rush mode on Hard. The multiple playthroughs will allow you to obtain any collectibles you may have missed the first time.

After completing the campaign on all three difficulties, you can use the mission select menu to wrap up any remaining achievements. The main source of replay value for the game is its combat system, which gains depth after unlocking multiple weapons and Arena Powers.
