The main story of Fantasy Life i The Girl Who Steals Time begins with a lengthy tutorial that introduces you to the game mechanics and its world. From there, if you focus on completing the seven chapters of the main quest, the game can be beaten in around 18 hours. Rushing will likely reduce the time it takes to complete the main story by one or two hours for first-time players. However, you’ll miss out on most of the content the game has to offer. There are various jobs, side stories, and map areas to explore.

Once you step off the main story track, there is a ton of content for you to immerse yourself in. There are 14 jobs, known as life classes, divided into Combat, Gathering, and Crafting. You level up each class to master rank and experience its unique playstyle along the way. Here are some highlights of what you can expect to do in the game:

- Create your town by gathering materials to restore the island’s former glory from 1,000 years ago.
- Find and craft furniture and decor for your house to furnish its interior.
- Play with up to four players online and two players locally.
- Once you have completed the main story, there are several end-game quests to work towards.
- Other activities include crafting, fishing, clearing dungeons, and exploring the island.
It will take more than 40 hours to experience most of this content. For completionists who want to experience all the content and get every achievement, you can expect to spend around 100 hours in the game.
