Beast Games, a show by Jimmy Donaldson aka MrBeast, will feature 1,000 contestants competing for $5 million.
Beast Games is a game show slated for a global premiere on December 19, 2024. Jimmy Donaldson, aka MrBeast, partnered with Amazon Prime Video to broadcast the show, in which 1,000 contestants will compete for $5 million.
MrBeast has been promoting Beast Games as the biggest game show ever produced. While filming the show, the YouTuber revealed that his team broke 40 Guinness World Records. He has been sharing sneak peeks of the upcoming show on social media.
According to MrBeast, the show has the most participants and the largest cash prize in history for a game show. The YouTuber will collaborate with popular streamer Nicholas “Jynxzi” on December 19, 2024, at 12 pm PT (Pacific Time) to celebrate the launch of the Amazon Prime show.
Beast Games Will Feature a $14 Million Gameshow Set
MrBeast revealed that the production crew of Beast Games spent $14 million to build a city in a field for the contestants to live and compete in. 2,000 contestants battled it out at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, to secure a spot in the main event, and only half qualified for the final rounds. The multimillion-dollar set is located in Toronto, Canada, near Downsview Airport. Contestants will have access to houses, parks, and a basketball court.
Episode one of the event will be available for free on Twitch. Streamers and content creators can also use the Stream Together feature to stream the show to their audience. Anyone interested in co-watching the show with streamers on Twitch will require a Prime Video subscription.
The Show Is Facing a Class-Action Lawsuit
The upcoming show is currently facing controversy. During its qualifier rounds, reports surfaced with allegations of participants being mistreated by the show’s crew. One of the allegations claimed that participants were not allowed medication, and there was another claim reporting that the medical staff on the premises were not properly equipped to deal with potential problems.
In September 2024, NBC News interviewed a participant named William, who claimed that one contestant with epilepsy was denied medication. The show is facing a class-action lawsuit filed on behalf of five contestants at the Los Angeles Superior Court.
A spokesperson stated to The New York Times on behalf of MrBeast:
“The shoot was unfortunately complicated by the CrowdStrike incident, extreme weather, and other unexpected logistical and communication issues.”
In November 2024, MrBeast announced that the crew would release a behind-the-scenes look at the show to highlight “how blown out of proportion these claims were.” Despite the controversy, the show is on track to release this week.
