Jimmy “MrBeast” is arguably the most popular YouTuber in the world. After starting his channel on the platform back in 2012, the content creator eventually rose to popularity over the years. Eventually, he dethroned PewDiePie and became the most subscribed individual content creator on the platform on November 14, 2022. Nearly two years later, on June 2, 2024, he overtook T-Series to become the most subscribed channel overall. MrBeast now has 321 million subscribers on his YouTube channel.

His content on the platform often consists of participants engaging in challenges in a game show-like fashion. Each video’s challenge is unique. Furthermore, the winner or winners stand a chance to win cash prizes worth $250,000, $500,000, and $1,000,000. He also compares items of lower and higher values, such as in his videos $1 vs $100,000,000 House! and $1 vs $10,000,000 Job!.

MrBeast often tries his hand at completing challenges along with his group of friends, who he has termed the Beast Gang. The current members of this group are Chandler Hallow, Karl Jacobs, Nolan Hansen, and Tareq Salameh.

A former associate of MrBeast, Kris Tyson, was involved in a controversy in July 2024, as allegations of grooming were made against her. Some YouTubers had come out with videos, in which they accused her of buying art from Shadman and allegedly engaging in inappropriate behavior with a 13-year-old.

What Is the Controversy Surrounding MrBeast’s Upcoming Game Show Beast Games?

MrBeast recently came under fire after YouTubers such as Rosanna Pansino and reporting agencies such as the Las Vegas-based site Vitas Vegas came out with allegations against MrBeast’s treatment of his show’s participants. The show, titled Beast Games, being developed by the YouTuber for Prime Video, allegedly involved neglect of participants’ basic needs, such as adequate food, water, and medicine.

On the other side, reports also suggested that participants had sustained injuries like broken bones. Some also required stitches at the nearby hospital. The hospital’s nurses, who supposedly did not sign an NDA with MrBeast, corroborated this information. Another report by Las Vegas-based KSNV (Channel 3) claimed that two dozen individuals involved in the production of the show had come forward. These individuals faced alleged poor management under MrBeast’s team of producers.

Allegedly, a producer working under MrBeast had asked a contestant wrangler, who is an individual responsible for handling the contestants, to clean a portable restroom that had started overflowing. Further, no appropriate equipment was provided to the individual. Upon showing hesitation, the contestant wrangler was allegedly threatened by the producer with termination.

As per the worker who had made the accusation, this made for an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) violation. On the other side, a worker labeled it as “the most unprofessional production” they had encountered.
