YouTube star Jimmy “MrBeast” recently uploaded a video titled I Spent 100 Hours Inside The Pyramids! The video has raised some eyebrows since the Giza Pyramid complex is not accessible to be freely filmed or stay beyond the stipulated period.

However, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has confirmed that Jimmy did not pay any rent to film a video there, seemingly rubbishing the rumors of “renting” it for money. The speculations started after Jimmy first revealed the plans to film a video there in December 2024. In a podcast with Noah Lyles, he said:

“He got all three Pyramids of Egypt for 100 hours. We are gonna do a video where they let me explore anywhere I want in the Pyramids. We’re gonna sleep in the Pyramids, have it all to ourselves.”

Noah Lyles asked:

“How did they ‘OK’ that?”

Jimmy responded:

“Well, we worked with the Egyptian government and we got access to the Pyramids.”

Jimmy’s statement was misunderstood as him offering monetary compensation to the Egyptian government, which sparked some backlash against the YouTuber. However, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities confirmed that they had approved the project. He was also accompanied by on-site archaeologists throughout the shoot. They confimed:

“The YouTuber did not rent the area but obtained a permit to film outside official working hours.”

What Is MrBeast’s Newest Video About?

YouTube star MrBeast’s latest video, I Spent 100 Hours Inside The Pyramids!, was released on February 8, 2025. Within the first 24 hours, it garnered over 46 million views, surpassing his previous video’s 24-hour view count by 12.4 million. As of today, the video has accumulated over 75 million views and is on track to reach 100 million soon.

In this 21-minute-long video, Jimmy ventures into the Great Pyramids of Giza, exploring narrow corridors and hidden chambers. Throughout the video, he was also joined by renowned Egyptian archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass, who shared in-depth historical insights into the pyramids’ construction and enduring mysteries.

MrBeast, of course, is not the only renowned YouTuber to film at the Pyramids of Giza. Another YouTuber attempted something similar but without permission. In January 2020, Kick streamer and YouTuber Vitaly Zdorovetskiy illegally climbed the Pyramid of Giza without a permit, an act strictly prohibited by Egyptian authorities.

While he managed to reach the top, he was apprehended by authorities upon descending. Later, it was confirmed that he had been taken into police custody. He also claimed that he managed to secure the recording by hiding the SD card inside his buttocks.
