The Naruto series is one of the most popular Shonen titles in the world. Its popularity cannot be overstated since it was a gateway for many to explore the wonderful world of anime and manga. Named after the protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki, the series focuses on his life from when he was a bratty child to becoming the protector of the village. The series is about his dream of becoming the Hokage — a title given to the strongest shinobi who governs and protects the village.

Naruto was 12 years old at the start of the series and 17 by the time the series ended. Eventually, he became Hokage, and glimpses of his adulthood were shown in the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations show. The original series has two parts — Naruto and Naruto Shippuden. The story’s first half covers Naruto’s earlier life, while the second part covers the time he and his comrades took part in the Fourth Great Ninja War.

Naruto’s Age in Naruto and Naruto Shippuden

Naruto was about 12 years old when the anime started. This was when the protagonist enrolled in the academy to become a Konohagakure shinobi. The initial parts of this series focused on his road to becoming a ninja despite lacking the intellect that his peers had. It also delved into the dynamics between him and his comrades like Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno. The entirety of Naruto accounts for only one canonical year. Therefore, the future Seventh Hokage was just 13 years old before the Shippuden series began.

Before the start of Shippuden, the protagonist accompanied Jiraiya for two years. During this time, Naruto spent his days training under one of the Legendary Sannin. He polished his combat skills and returned to Konohagakure. He was 15 years old by the time Shippuden began. Subsequently, the show provides important information during the Pain arc. At this juncture of the story, he was 16 years old.

By the time the Fourth Great Ninja War took place, another year in the canon story had passed. This meant that Naruto was 17 years old when the Shippuden series ended. Therefore, these two parts give an in-depth view of Naruto’s life from when he was 12 years old until he turned 17.

Naruto’s Age in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is a sequel series that follows the life of Naruto’s son, Boruto Uzumaki. This show begins 15 years after the Fourth Great Ninja War. Since Naruto was 17 years old at the time, he was 32 by the time the Boruto series began. At this point, he was not only the Seventh Hokage but also a father to two children — Boruto and Himawari Uzumaki. As shown in Naruto: The Last Movie, he married Hinata Hyuga.

During the Shippuden series, there were early indications that the two were potentially exploring a romantic relationship. The sequel series also had a time skip. At the start of the series, Naruto was 32 years old. Following the time skip, he is 35 years old. However, his exact age can be questioned since Kawaki has sealed them in a different dimension where time has frozen. Therefore, his age should technically be 32 during the Two Blue Vortex series.

Despite his young age, performing the Rasengan was one of Naruto’s many achievements. He was able to perform the Shadow Clone Jutsu, a forbidden technique. The young shinobi and Sasuke took on the likes of Haku at a young age and came out on top. He also played an important role in various missions considered dangerous for a young teenager like himself. Naruto Uzumaki also defeated Gaara, who was one of the, if not the strongest, shinobi from the Sand Village.

Furthermore, he took on Neji and defeated him during the Chunin Exams. At that point in time, Neji was already a seasoned fighter who trained with utmost dedication. The latter also had a Byakugan, which allowed him to stop chakra flow by attacking crucial points. Despite having such an impressive opponent ahead of him, Naruto managed to defeat Neji with his abilities.

How Strong Was Naruto in Shippuden Compared to His Father?

By the time Shippuden ended, Naruto was far stronger than his father, Minato Namikaze. His father was an exceptional shinobi who took on the Kyuubi all by himself. He also mastered the Flying Raijin technique, an advanced space-time jutsu. However, his son, the Ashura reincarnate, had access to the Nine-Tailed Beast chakra. Furthermore, he mastered the Sage Mode and played a key role in defeating a literal God. Therefore, it’s safe to say that he was stronger than Minato in the Shippuden series.

How Strong is Boruto in Two Blue Vortex Compared to Naruto at That Age?

Boruto is 15 years old in the Two Blue Vortex series. At the current state, one can assume that he is as strong as Naruto was towards the end of Shippuden. The manga already revealed that he mastered all the Uchiha techniques that Sasuke knew about. Boruto also mastered the Flying Raijin technique — something his grandfather was known for. He also has access to the Jogan and is now a full-fledged Otsutsuki. His true potential is still a mystery, but one can assume that he will soon be stronger than Naruto at his peak. Therefore, it’s confirmed that Boruto is far stronger than his father was at that age.

Naruto’s Current Status

The Seventh Hokage is currently trapped in a dimension where time doesn’t flow. Kawaki sealed him and his wife, Hinata, in this dimension, known as Daikokuten, to protect them. Meanwhile, Kawaki wants to kill Boruto since the presence of any Otsutsuki poses a risk to Naruto, his wife, and the village he is supposed to protect.

Conclusion

Naruto was 12 years old at the start of the series and 17 by the time Shippuden ended. In the sequel series, he was 32 years old. However, as the series progressed, there was a three-year time skip. However, he is stuck in a dimension where time doesn’t flow, so his age remains unchanged.
