LegalEagle Is Going To Sue Honey

Recently, LegalEagle uploaded a video where he talked about a recent controversy involving a browser extension called Honey. YouTuber MegaLag released an investigative video revolving around Honey. He claimed that the company scams its consumers and creators by tampering with the codes and taking the commission for themselves.

After this, LegalEagle uploaded a video titled ‘I’m Suing Honey.’ He stated that he is filing a class-action lawsuit against the PayPal-owned company. In support of the creators, he said,

“Creators are saying Honey is a scam. They believe Honey steals from creators. So on behalf of creators everywhere, I’ve filed a class-action lawsuit to stop it. It’s free money they say. But we believe that nothing could be further from the truth. Unfortunately, there’s no such thing as a free lunch. We believe that money came right out of the pockets of your favourite YouTubers, TikTokers, Instagramers, podcasts, and bloggers.”

LegalEagle further argued that this might affect creators who don’t use any kind of affiliate marketing as well. He said,

“It’s possible that every advertiser in the world might think their advertising on social media platforms is less effective, if Honey is indeed coming in at the last second and taking the attribution that would’ve gone to the creator,” Stone says. “Creators rely on advertising, whether directly or indirectly. In some ways it’s a miracle that we are allowed to post our videos on YouTube for free, or our pictures on Instagram, or distribute our podcasts, and all of that is free. That’s because these platforms rely on advertising.”
