Pirates are out conquering the seven seas in search of gold and glory, and cementing your legacy in such a competitive and hostile environment is no easy task. But every now and then, a pirate comes along that transcends the mere status of the thief and becomes a bonafide legend, the “Pirate Legend.”
The Pirate Legend in Sea of Thieves is the highest rank in the game, distinguishing you from the rest of the pirates. It comes with various perks and costumes, making it the most sought-after title in the game. But just as one does not simply become a legend in real life, achieving this rank and title in the game is very hard. In this guide, we shall go over how to become a Pirate Legend in Sea of Thieves.

How To Become a Pirate Legend
The status Legend in Sea of Thieves is earned by completing Trading Company missions. There are eight Trading Companies in Sea of Thieves, all of whom have their own sets of missions to complete. Completing these helps you increase your rank with them. Level your rank up to Level 50 with any three of these Trading Companies to grow your reputation and ascend to the title of the famed “Pirate Legend” in the game.
Completing all Trading Company missions and leveling up is undoubtedly a time-consuming task. To speed up this process, you can purchase a Level 50 Promotion from Trading Company officials once you’ve crossed the Level 50 threshold with any of the corporations. The promotion will then give you different yet more rewarding sets of missions that will make the leveling-up process much less of a grind.

Becoming the Pirate Legend
Once you’ve hit Level 50 in three of the Trading Companies, go and talk to the Mysterious Stranger. You will find this NPC in any of the outpost taverns in the game. The stranger will reward you with a purple Legendary Clothing outfit and a new shanty.
Play the shanty in the tavern, next to the broken stairs near the Mysterious Stranger. The floor will then light up and reveal a hidden passageway to the Athena’s Fortune hideout. Head down the stairs and into a cave filled with the spirits of other Pirate Legends.
