Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time dives into a vast open world centered around the fascinating island of Ginormosia. The player travels back and forth through time to solve the mystery behind the isle’s downfall while restoring it to its former glory. The game provides various customization options, from the character’s appearance to one of 14 classes called Lives, and several buddies to accompany you during exploration. The game goes one step further and allows you to customize the name of the island itself. Let’s take a closer look at how to access this welcome role-playing feature.

To change the island’s name in Fantasy Life i, you have to complete the ‘Place the Sign and Furniture’ quest in Chapter 3. Once the quest is completed, head to the Base Camp and speak with Boyle in the Guild House. Choose the “Change Island Name” option and enter the desired name.

Boyle offers several such customization services and helps you alter your character’s looks with the “Change Appearance” option. Other services include Party Formation and Islander Management.

Island Naming Rules and Impact

Fantasy Life i has stringent rules regarding character and island naming. The island name must be no more than 10 characters long. Additionally, it should be appropriate according to the game’s censorship rules. These rules are especially restrictive since the island’s name is visible on the map to other players who join your world in multiplayer

If your chosen name contains even a fragment of offensive content, the game will reject it. Understandably, this has miffed some players, as the game has rejected names like “Juniper,” “Tartaria,” and “Laputa.” Once you select a suitable name, the game displays it on the map and during character interactions.
