There are several reasons to adjust the time of day in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, making time manipulation an essential part of gameplay. Fortunately, the game provides players with a few options to control the time, adding strategic depth to the experience. One of the reasons is that certain monsters in the game only appear at night. You can recruit them to fight in the Monster Arena.

Another major reason can be the fact that some places don’t open up until the sun has set in the game. Moreover, specific characters and solutions to a puzzle are only available at night.

There are more reasons for you to change the time of the day, but we leave that for you to explore. For now, let’s learn how to do it first.

Change Time of the Day Using These Methods

One of the ways in the early game to change time is by visiting an Inn. These are not really scarce in the game and can be found often. These buildings are marked with a white bed on your map. Once you enter, all Inns have a receptionist. Talk to them to rent a room.

You can either Stay Overnight or Rest Awhile. Staying overnight will only release you the next morning. So, selecting the second option will let you choose between time frames like Dawn, Noon, Dusk, and Night.

A more convenient way to change time is to grab the Night Light. Once you have access to the Portoga ship, you can go ahead and visit Theddon village. There is a shop located on the bottom left of the village map. Enter it and head upstairs to open the chest there. Going here during the day also works. However, you may want to return at night if the chest upstairs is blocked during daylight. The Night Light lets you skip the sun for the day.

Apart from this, you can also use the Mage and Sage vocations to learn the Tick-Tock ability. It works similarly to the light we previously mentioned and lets you change the time of day whenever you like.

The only conditions in the latter two ways are that you must be in the main overworld, outside any building or town, and also out of combat to pull these tricks off.
