The quest begins when you obtain the Sun Clan Relic, which can drop from a variety of enemies in the Mastodon Badlands. Once you acquire this relic, the quest will instruct you to “Find a use for The Relics,” which is rather vague.
Finding the Relics
- Sun Clan Relic: This relic drops randomly from enemies in the Mastodon Badlands.
- Kabala Clan Relic: To obtain this relic, you need to farm on the Keth map in Act 2. Be prepared for a potentially lengthy grind, as the drop rate for these items is quite low.
Using the Relics
With both Relics in your inventory, proceed to the Valley of the Titans map. Depending on your progress in Act 2, you may have already unlocked the Waypoint in this area while working on the A Crown of Stone quest. Path of Exile 2’s randomized maps might make finding the right spot challenging, but focus on locating the Waypoint.
Once you find the Waypoint in the Valley of the Titans, follow the adjacent passage to an altar. At the altar, you will have the option to place the Relics, which will present you with two buffs:
- 30% Increased Charm Charges Gained
- 15% Mana Recovery from Flasks
Choose the buff that best suits your current build and playstyle. For example, if you find your spells consuming too much mana, opting for the Mana Recovery buff might be more beneficial. The good news is that you can always return and switch your choice later if needed.
Completing the Ancient Vows quest in Path of Exile 2 may require some patience due to the low drop rates of the Relics, but the rewards are well worth the effort. By finding and using the Relics, you gain access to buffs that can significantly enhance your gameplay. Whether you choose to increase your Charm Charges or improve your Mana Recovery from Flasks, the flexibility to change your decision at any time adds an extra layer of strategic depth to your adventure.
