With the onset of the Flamefete Festival, the highly awaited Arch-tempered uth Duna has finally made its way to Monster Hunter Wilds. While the regular Uth Duna (High Rank) was already a menace, the Arch-tempered version takes the difficulty of this monster to a whole other level. The Arch-tempered variant is significantly more “tanky” and is resistant to one of the key mechanics of the game, wounds.
However, much like the Arch-tempered Rey Dau, AT Uth Duna is a monster that rewards careful preparation and monster knowledge. While the monster is more challenging than its regular counterpart, it’s also much easier to defeat if you play to its vulnerabilities. Here’s everything you need to know about the Arch-tempered Uth Duna in Monster Hunter Wilds and how to easily defeat it.
Overview of the Arch-Tempered Uth Duna in Monster Hunter Wilds
Arch-tempered Uth Duna is more or less identical to Tempered Uth Duna that you can find as part of the endgame Investigations. However, some key differences set the Arch-tempered variant apart. The Arch-tempered variant of monsters is essentially a more battle-hardened version of their Tempered counterpart. These monsters go through countless turf wars, which not only affect them physically but also mentally. And as a result, Arch-tempered monsters are significantly more aggressive, intelligent, and powerful. Unlike the regular Uth Duna, the Arch-tempered variant leaves very few openings for Hunters to attack.
As such, defeating the Arch-tempered variant often ends up feeling like a battle of attrition. Furthermore, unlike the Arch-tempered Rey Dau, AT Uth Duna seems to scale off of the 8-star version of the Apex Monster. It not only has access to new multi-hit combos but can also one-shot Hunters if they fail to dodge its slam attacks.
Furthermore, due to its higher defense, AT Uth Duna is incredibly resistant to wounds. And if that’s not all, its veil, which covers most of its exterior, is also resistant to damage. However, with the right build, you can still wound the monster. Furthermore, AT Uth Duna is incredibly susceptible to elemental damage, especially Thunderblight.
Weaknesses of Arch-Tempered Uth Duna
Arch-tempered Uth Duna shares the same weaknesses as its regular and Tempered variants. The monster is extremely weak to Thunderblight. Furthermore, it’s also weak to Paralysis, Sleep, and Exhaust. Blastblight and Poison also work well against Uth Duna. However, if you’re looking for efficiency, we recommend using Thunderblight. While you can go with Artian Weapons with good elemental stats, the Lagiacrus weapons are also a good option due to their high Thunder damage. Tips To Easily Defeat Arch-Tempered Uth Duna in MH Wilds
Here are some tips that will help you to easily defeat the Arch-tempered Uth Duna:
- For the most part, Arch-tempered Uth Duna is identical to the regular variant. However, most of its attacks deal a lot more damage than usual. Furthermore, due to its resistance to Stun, staggering the monster is also quite difficult. This is why you want to bring some traps with you on this hunt.
- We also recommend bringing Sonic and Flash Pods, which can help stagger the monster before its multi-hit combo. In addition to that, make sure to bring some Defense-boosting potions, such as Armorskin to improve survivability.
- Since you cannot break AT Uth Duna’s veil easily, we recommend focusing your attacks on the monster’s head. If you want to mount the monster for the free stagger, make sure to do so via its head. Due to Uth Duna’s hitbox, mounting it from the sides without eliminating the veil can be quite tricky.
- Much like the regular Uth Duna, the Arch-tempered variant can get into Turf Wars with other monsters. Your best bet is to bring Uth Duna close to the Mizutsune near the basin spring. Doing so will initiate a Turf War, where Mizutsune does get an upper hand, dealing a ton of damage to Uth Duna in the process.
- Much like the regular Uth Duna, the Arch-tempered variant is highly susceptible to guard counter and power clashes. Additionally, if you want to break the monster’s veil and are using a heavier weapon, we highly recommend equipping the Chainblade Talisman for added Flayer.
- Lastly, Uth Duna is highly susceptible to Thunderblight; as such, make sure to equip yourself with the appropriate weapon before heading into the hunt.
