Maris is an aerial boss. Therefore, classes that deal ranged damage perform excellently against this boss. Therefore, Ironeye should be a must-use against this enemy. She has two phases, the second of which starts at 50% health.

The second phase sees her spawn tentacles all over the arena. These are essentially stage hazards that attack you when you get close. So, you can ignore these tentacles if they aren’t anywhere close to you. Secondly, she also increases her aggression, which is her primary weakness during her first phase.

Moreover, staggering Maris will make all these tentacles disappear as well. Therefore, your primary focus should be Maris at all times during the fight.

Weakness of Augur (Maris, Fathom of Night)

Unfortunately, this boss only has a single weakness, that being Lightning. This is likely to balance out the low aggression of this enemy. Regardless, having Lightning ailments will let you deal with this boss more easily.

Ironeye or Recluse will be great here, since Maris often goes out of reach of the other classes. Moreover, you should try to raid camps with lightning icons during the expedition, so you have ways to target Maris’ weakness.

Tips To Easily Defeat Augur (Maris, Fathom of Night)

Here are some things to keep in mind before and during the boss fight:

  • Save your Ultimate attacks during the second phase of the fight. Maris descends to the ground and starts unleashing an AOE (area of effect) aura of sleep. This is preparing for an attack that can potentially one-shot your entire team. Therefore, use Lightning attacks and Ultimate attacks to stagger her.
  • As mentioned before, Ironeye and Recluse will perform well in this fight, due to their ranged damage-dealing capabilities. However, melee attacks also have some window to land.
  • The above-mentioned ranged units will also become necessary in stopping another one of Maris’ Ultimate attacks. This time, she creates teardrops to fall to the ground. Ranged units should attack and destroy this tear so that it falls to the ground.
  • Staying away from the tentacles also lets you deal damage without any interruptions for the most part. However, you should still be careful of Maris’ dive. Still, this attack is quite predictable if you watch her closely.

That was everything to know about the Augur (Maris, Fathom of Night) in Elden Ring Nightreign.
