Overview of Night Aspect in Elden Ring Nightreign

When you reach the third night of the Night Aspect expedition, you will face Heolstor the Nightlord. He has two phases, each with separate health bars. However, his first phase, the Shape of Night, is a weaker version of his true form.
Phase 1
In his first phase, he starts as a limping swordsman and uses only one greatsword during the early part of Phase 1. He attacks with lunges and occasionally teleports into a shadowy mist form. He cannot be hit in this state, but can be locked on.
After you reduce the Shape of Night’s health to 60 to 65 percent, he kneels for a second or two and begins using the rest of his hands. Now, he has two right arms and a left arm. In his top right arm, he wields a greatsword, and in his lower right arm, he holds a longsword. His left arm wields a shortsword, which he uses as a dagger.
Once the Shape of Night enters this stage of Phase 1, he becomes significantly more aggressive. His sword slashes become faster, his lunge has a greater range, and his moveset expands considerably due to the emergence of two more hands and swords. Fortunately, the Shape of Night takes about a second before unleashing any large slashes, making these attacks more predictable despite their lethality.
Phase 2
After you bring the Shape of Night’s health down to zero, the screen becomes enveloped in black fog, and the boss transitions to Phase 2, Heolstor the Nightlord. In this phase, the main noticeable changes are that his greatsword now shines with a deep blue hue, similar to the Moonlight Greatsword in base Elden Ring. Additionally, Heolstor gains a cool cape.
In his second phase, Heolstor continues to use the same lunge and slash combo from the first phase. However, he adds a new combo in which he infuses his sword with magic, causing his slashes to leave aftereffects that deal damage if you remain in them. Sometimes, Heolstor follows up his combos with a large AOE (area of effect) move that can launch you into the air if caught.
His major attack in this stage, Phase 2, is another large AOE attack that envelops the area in blue fog and spawns homing wisps that deal damage upon contact. This attack finishes with lightning forming in the fog. After you reduce his health to 60 to 65 percent, Heolstor enters the final stage of his fight.
Heolstor the Nightlord rises into the air, tears open the sky with his greatsword, and slams down onto the ground, sending shockwaves throughout the arena. This results in changes to the arena, with the ground erupting in random spots. Fortunately, no new movesets are introduced in this stage, but both of his right-hand swords deal significant damage upon contact with their slashes.
Weakness of Night Aspect (Heolstor the Nightlord)

Unfortunately, Heolstor shows vulnerability only to holy damage, which can be difficult to obtain for many classes. It is highly recommended to include the Revenant and Recluse in the party for this fight, as both possess the highest Faith scaling in the entire game.
Heolstor the Nightlord infuses his swords with both magical and fire properties. Therefore, there is a likelihood that he receives reduced damage from these sources in his second phase. Your best strategy is to use relics that enhance or increase holy damage before commencing the expedition.
Tips To Easily Defeat Night Aspect (Heolstor the Nightlord)

Despite being the final boss, Heolstor can still be defeated by following these tips:
- The first stage of Phase 1 is the simplest part of the entire fight. Try not to take too much damage at the beginning. You will need the heals later on.
- It is possible to stagger Heolstor, so aim to inflict poise damage and maintain it by continually hitting him.
- Heolstor employs many AOE attacks. These attacks present the best opportunity to recover and heal. You can avoid most of his AOE attacks by simply running away.
- Most of his sword slashes are telegraphed, meaning they are highly predictable. Keep your eyes on Heolstor at all times.
- Try to avoid entering his melee range as much as possible. His attack combos are extensive, with little breathing room between them. Ranged spells of the holy attribute are your most valuable assets in this fight.
- His arena-covering attack in Phase 2 can be dodged by rolling at the right moment. If you struggle to do so, ensure your health is high before the attack to avoid death.
- Maintain your composure during the fight with Heolstor the Nightlord. Use healing items such as Warming Stones to mitigate some of the chip damage from the boss.
- Having good magical and fire defense can be beneficial during the final section of the second phase.
