Everything you need to know about the second Axon, Sirene, in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, including the boss’s weakness and how to defeat it.

The Axons are easily the most cinematic boss fights in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, apart from the game’s final encounter(s), of course. As such, being the second Axon that you face in the game, Sirene offers plenty of spectacle and also a challenge when it comes to the boss fight.
However, unlike the Visage, which is a true test of skill and reflexes, Sirene is more of a “gimmick” boss fight. She can not only deal a ton of damage with her attacks but also has access to a special debuff that causes your party members to attack each other. Thankfully, as is the case with most bosses in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, there are plenty of ways to counter Sirene and defeat her.
Here’s everything you need to know about Sirene in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 to counter her “Charm” debuff and easily defeat her.

How To Unlock Sirene in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

Sirene, much like the Visage and the Dualliste, is a main story boss in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 that you cannot miss. Once you make your way past Old Lumiere and Renoir, you will reach a point where the Expeditioners are tasked by the Curator to seek out the Axons and defeat them in order to weaken the Paintress. Furthermore, defeating the Axons is the only way to gather enough Chroma that will allow the Expeditioners to enter the Monolith. Sirene is the second Axon you face after having defeated the Visage. On a technical level, Sirene is a much easier boss fight compared to the Visage. She only has a single phase, and her attacks are quite predictable.
However, the challenge of this boss fight comes in the form of the Charm debuff. Once afflicted by Charm, your party members will exhaust their turns by attacking one another and killing them. This not only wastes a turn that you could’ve used to deal damage to the boss but also forces you to use a Resurrection Tint. Additionally, Sirene also has multi-hit combos that can easily wipe out your entire party if you fail to dodge or parry them. The only saving grace here is that Sirene doesn’t have too much health and is extremely weak to Burn damage.
Tips To Easily Defeat Sirene

Sirene’s biggest strength is her ability to inflict Charm status. Once a party member is afflicted with Charm, they will use their turn to attack another member before dying. Similarly to Blight, Charm cannot be dispelled using Tints. Furthermore, you cannot dodge Charm, as it’s inflicted automatically. However, you can use Pictos/Luminas to negate the effects of Charm. You can use the Anti-Charm Picto to essentially counteract Sirene’s most powerful ability. Once you obtain the Anti-Charm Picto, make sure to convert it into a Lumina. That way, you can equip the Anti-Charm trait on multiple party members. Having Anti-Charm equipped vastly reduces the difficulty of the battle.
Once you have the Anti-Charm Lumina equipped, it’s time to prepare a party for the boss fight. The recommended party setup for Sirene is Verso, Lune, and Maelle. Verso and Maelle can dish out massive amounts of damage, especially with crit builds. Whereas, Lune can work as the team’s healer and also periodically apply debuffs on the boss. Sirene’s combos aren’t particularly challenging. However, if you’re struggling with the parry timings, you can use dodge to avoid a good chunk of the boss’s attacks. That said, for the multi-hit combos, we recommend practicing your parries, as countering them isn’t that difficult, and doing so deals a ton of damage to the boss.
Lastly, make sure to constantly apply Burn stacks on the boss. You can use Lune to apply Burn using Immolation and follow it up with Maelle’s Swift Stride skill to switch into Virtuose Stance. Also, you can use Verso’s Perfect Break skill to stun Sirene, which allows you to deal bonus damage to the boss.
How To Obtain the Anti-Charm Pictos

The Anti-Charm Pictos is a confirmed drop upon defeating Tisseur, an optional boss that you come across on your way to Sirene. You can find Tisseur near the Sewing Atelier Resting Point in Sirene. There’s a dedicated cutscene that plays when you arrive at the Atelier; as such, you cannot miss encountering Tisseur. You can, however, choose to spare Tisseur instead of killing him. However, doing so will significantly increase the difficulty of the Sirene boss fight and also lock you out of the Anti-Charm Pictos.
