The Fell Omen is easily one of the toughest challenges you get to face in the original Elden Ring, and surprisingly enough, that also holds true for the newly released Elden Ring Nightreign. In fact, Nightreign’s version of the Fell Omen is significantly more powerful compared to the base game’s Margit or even King Morgott. Not only does the boss have more health this time around, he also is significantly more agile, and has received tweaks that allow him to juggle multiple targets at once, making him a threat even in multiplayer. Furthermore, the Fell Omen has also received substantial changes to its base toolset, giving it access to new attacks and abilities.

Essentially, Nightreign’s version of the Fell Omen is easily the toughest rendition of the boss in Elden Ring’s history. However, if you play to the boss’s weaknesses and learn to counter his attacks, you can easily overpower the Fell Omen. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to defeat the Fell Omen in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Overview of the Fell Omen (Margit) in Elden Ring Nightreign

Although the Fell Omen isn’t a Nightlord in Elden Ring Nightreign, it does exhibit properties of one. Firstly, the boss has a massive HP bar, which necessitates elemental damage or use of Ultimate Arts. Secondly, the Fell Omen is the only enemy type outside of the Nightlords that can randomly invade your Expedition. However, if you do manage to defeat the boss, you are rewarded with a ton of Runes as well as a special boon. The Fell Omen in Nightreign is roughly identical to his Elden Ring counterpart. He mostly does Holy damage, and can switch to Bleed after his HP bar is depleted to 75%. However, in Nightreign, the boss has a few new movesets as well.

There are essentially two new attacks that can easily catch you off guard. The first being a dagger flurry, which the boss can combo up to eight times. The second is an extended blood blade combo, which is aimed at catching multiple targets at once. Both these attacks are incredibly lethal at close and medium range. However, with the right Nightfarer and passive buffs, you can easily avoid these attacks, either by dodging away or parrying. Additionally, the boss also has access to teleportation, which it can use as a gap closer or a way to attack multiple Nightfarers quickly.

Weaknesses of the Fell Omen (Margit)

Much like in the original Elden Ring, the Fell Omen is incredibly weak to all elemental affinities, except Magic and Holy. The boss is also quite easy to stace-break, which comes in incredibly handy if you’re using characters like Raider, Wylder, or even Executor. During our testing, we found that affinities that do damage over time, like Poison and Scarlet Rot, work incredibly well against the Fell Omen. Additionally, you can also deplete huge chunks of the boss’s HP bar using Bleed; however, to do so, make sure you’re using a Nightfarer with Arcane-scaling. Lastly, you can also deal Magic damage to the Fell Omen, but it’s not nearly as effective as other affinities.

Here are some tips that should help you easily defeat the Fell Omen:

  • The Fell Omen always starts the battle with a delayed slash attack, which it can follow up with a dagger flurry or a Holy hammer slam attack. The best way to tackle the boss is to stay defensive until he has finished his combos. After that, dish out damage via your character skills or Ultimate Arts.
  • You can dodge most of the boss’s attacks by rolling. However, if you find the dodges unreliable, you can always use a shield to block his combos. If you’re using a ranged character, it’s best to stay at medium range.
  • The ideal composition to take down the Fell Omen is to have at least one tank and one ranged character in the party. You can distract the boss with the tank while other characters deal damage to the boss. Raider, Executor, and Ironeye are one of the best compositions to tackle most bosses in the game.
  • Once Margit’s health drops below 75%, he will transition into his blood blade phase. At the start of this phase, he will always do a full blood blade combo, which can be lethal at close and medium range. However, if you’re using the Guardian, you can use the character’s passive skill to block the entire combo. Otherwise, it’s best to simply run away from the boss by unlocking the camera.
  • It should be noted that in the second phase, the Fell Omen has lower defense and is more susceptible to affinity attacks.
