How To Dodge in Path of Exile 2
The dodge roll is a new mechanic in Path of Exile 2 and is accessible to all characters by default at the start of the game. You can dodge roll by pressing the Space Bar on PC, O on PlayStation, and B on Xbox.
Using the dodge roll initiates a roll animation that grants the player invincibility frames. This move has no cooldown and can be spammed infinitely as needed in the heat of battle. These I-frames will protect you from any incoming strikes or projectiles and can be a lifesaver. However, the dodge roll does not grant protection against AOE attacks or attacks jutting from the ground.
One of the more useful features of the dodge roll is its ability to cancel animations. You can use this to break out of an ongoing animation and get yourself out of harm’s way. This is especially useful when using attacks with high cast times that seemingly lock you in animation forever. Use dodge to break out of it and pivot to different attack strategies.
How To Block in Path of Exile 2
Blocking in Path of Exile 2 requires an equipped shield. Using the “Raise Shield” skill will raise your character’s shield and bring it in front of them for a block. This can be used to block incoming strikes and projectiles. Blocking lets you tank weaker attacks. You can also block powerful attacks, greatly reducing the damage taken from them.
Keep in mind that the shield only blocks the attacks coming from the direction you’re facing. Any attacks coming from the side or from behind will not be blocked. Therefore, positioning yourself and facing the right direction is a crucial skill that you have to build as you use blocks. Blocking is extremely useful when caught in a pinch with very little time to evade.
