Chi is the limited Zen currency you need to buy the event’s seed packs, pet eggs, crates and exclusives in Grow a Garden. You earn it only by submitting Tranquil mutated plants to the Brown Raccoon or sometimes through Zen Tree contributions to Unk the Monk.
Higher rarity Tranquil fruits give more Chi so focusing on producing and turning in rare mutations speeds up progress. This guide shows the exact methods, values per rarity and what to prioritize so you can stock the Zen Shop fast.
Earn Chi in Grow a Garden
Chi Points can only be earned by submitting plants with the Tranquil mutation. These fruits must be handed over to the Brown Raccoon or, in some cases, to Unk the Monk for Zen Tree progression. Follow the steps below to start collecting Chi efficiently:
1. Submit Tranquil Plants to the Brown Raccoon
- Go to the center of the play area.
- Locate the Brown Raccoon standing next to Unk the Monk.
- Press E to interact with the Raccoon.
- Choose one of two options:
- “Take all my Tranquil plants” to instantly submit all mutated fruits.
- “Take this plant” to submit only the one you’re currently holding.
- Based on the rarity of the fruit, you’ll receive a specific number of Chi Points (see table below).
This is the most reliable and repeatable way to earn Chi in the game.

2. Contribute to the Zen Tree via Unk the Monk
While not the main method, submitting Tranquil fruits to Unk the Monk will grow the Zen Tree behind him. As the tree level increases, you’ll occasionally receive small rewards, which may include a few Chi Points. This method is slower but helps progress the overall Zen event.
3. Trigger the Tranquil Mutation
Chi can only be earned from Tranquil plants, so triggering this mutation is essential. You can get the Tranquil mutation in three ways:
- Zen Aura Weather Event – Occurs hourly.
- Tanchozuru Pet – Hatched from the Zen egg, it can trigger Tranquil mutations.
- Tranquil Pet Mutation – Apply it to your existing pets to give them the same effect.
To earn Chi consistently, focus on farming during the Zen Aura and using pets that boost Tranquil chances.
