Learn about the Capture Pro trophy in Monster Hunter Wilds, including its requirements, and the best methods to unlock it.

The Capture Pro isn’t a particularly difficult trophy to unlock in Monster Hunter Wilds. However, it certainly can be quite a time-consuming trophy, especially if you don’t plan to engage with the game’s multiplayer elements. The primary requirement for the trophy is to capture 50 Large Monsters. However, doing so is not only quite tricky but also something that isn’t explained or tutorialized by the game, properly. The only time you’re asked to “capture” a Large Monster is at the start of High Rank. Outside of that, there’s only a single other instance where the game requires you to capture a monster, and that’s in an Optional Quest in High Rank.
Thankfully, once you figure out how to capture monsters, getting the Capture Pro trophy becomes significantly easier. Furthermore, there are some easy methods that you can employ to grab the trophy at the earliest. Here’s everything you need to know about the Capture Pro trophy in Monster Hunter Wilds, and how to easily unlock it.
Prerequisites for the Capture Pro Trophy in Monster Hunter Wilds

To get the Capture Pro trophy in Monster Hunter Wilds, you need to capture 50 Large Monsters. On paper, the requirements of the trophy sound quite simple. However, capturing monsters isn’t nearly as easy as slaying them. To capture a monster, you need to carry a few extra resources, which the game doesn’t tell you about, outside of a handful of main story quests. Essentially, you will need to carry a Pitfall Trap or a Shock Trap, as well as Tranq Bombs or Tranq Ammo. While it’s mostly fine if you’re carrying either the Pitfall or the Shock Trap, ideally, you would want to carry both. This is because some monsters are immune to Shock or Pitfall Trap.
For instance, Rey Dau, when enraged, cannot be subdued using the Shock Trap. Similarly, the Pitfall Trap doesn’t work on Jin Dahaad. In addition to that, some monsters cannot be captured. Here’s a list of all the monsters that cannot be captured in Monster Hunter Wilds:
- Jin Dahaad
- Guardian Arkveld
- Zoh Shia
In addition to the Traps and Tranq Bombs, you also need to be mindful of when you can capture a monster. Essentially, you can only capture a Large Monster when it’s close to dying. You can identify when a monster is close to dying by looking at its icon on the minimap. If you see a flashing skull symbol above the monster’s icon, it’s close to dying. This is the time when you would want to deploy a Trap. Once the monster is trapped, simply throw two Tranq Bombs near it to capture it.
How To Easily Unlock the Capture Pro Trophy?

The best and most easiest way to get the Capture Pro trophy is to hunt Low Rank monsters. We highly recommend going for the Low Rank Chatacabra, since it has very little HP, and can be captured in less than 2 minutes, consistently. Do make sure to stock up on Pitfall Traps, Shock Traps, and Tranq Bombs. Another easy method to easily unlock this trophy is to tackle quests with a group of friends, and capture monsters.
