Everything you need to know about fast travel in Monster Hunter Wilds, how to unlock it, prerequisites, limitations, and more.

Fast traveling in Monster Hunter Wilds is incredibly crucial, considering its open-world map design as well as the revamped Investigation mechanic. Although fast travel isn’t a new feature in the latest Monster Hunter title, it certainly is much more intuitive compared to the past titles. In Monster Hunter World, fast travel was limited to the camps you unlocked on any given map. Furthermore, fast travel also wasn’t really incentivized in that game due to its smaller, more densely-packed maps. Fast travel was also quite similar in Monster Hunter Rise, with very limited options. However, with Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom has streamlined the process of fast traveling in the game.
Here’s everything you need to know about fast travel in Monster Hunter Wilds, its requirements, a few limitations, and more.
How To Unlock Fast Travel in Monster Hunter Wilds

Much like in Monster Hunter World, fast travel in MH Wilds is unlocked right from the get-go. Initially, when you start the game and explore Windward Plains, you can only fast travel to the region’s Base Camp. However, as you complete the main story quests, you will unlock the ability to set up Pop-Up Camps, which serve as temporary fast travel points. The Pop-Up Camps can be built at designated spots in every region. Each region allows a total of 5 Pop-Up Camps. Apart from the Pop-Up Camps, you can also fast travel to designated locations like Kunafa Village (Windward Plains) and the Everforge (Oilwell Basin).
More fast travel locations are unlocked once you complete Low Rank and finish a few High Rank Investigations. Fast travel comes in really handy during the High Rank Investigations, especially when you’re grinding Tempered Monsters for resources. Furthermore, although every region in the game can be accessed without fast travel, doing so saves a ton of time.
Requirements for Fast Travel in Monster Hunter
Before you can fast travel, you need to finish the prologue and also the Quematrice hunting quest. After completing the Quematrice hunt, you’re free to explore Windward Plains and can also set up a few Pop-Up Camps. This goes for every region. Once you reach a new region, you need to complete the first main story hunting quest there to unlock the ability to explore it, and also fast travel. You can also fast travel from one region to another, as long as you’re not in the middle of a quest or Investigation.
How To Fast Travel

There are two different methods to fast travel. The first method includes the use of Farcaster. However, using Farcaster only lets you fast travel to your last resting spot, be it a Pop-Up Camp or a Base Camp. The second method, which is more efficient, is to use the map and select your fast travel location from there. You can also use the map to fast travel back to safety during combat. To do so, equip the Ghillie Mantle, and once the monster has lost track of you, use the map to fast travel to either a Pop-Up Camp or Base Camp. Do note that fast traveling between different regions is disabled during a hunting or Investigation quest.
