Finding and defeating Helltide Commanders is essential for completing certain tasks of the Seasonal Journey in Diablo 4.
In Diablo 4, Helltides are crucial events offering unique rewards and challenges. Helltide Commanders are elusive mini-bosses who appear during Helltide events. Although they are mini-bosses, they don’t pose much of a threat once you find them. The trick is that these mini-bosses don’t spawn in every Helltide event. There are several guaranteed Helltide events where a Helltide Commander will spawn. Apart from dropping valuable loot, defeating them is mandatory to complete certain missions in the Seasonal Journey.

Where To Find Helltide Commanders in Diablo 4
Helltide events can occur repeatedly with a five-minute cooldown. These events take place at random locations and are marked as orange circles on the map. As mentioned earlier, you will not encounter Helltide Commanders in every Helltide event. Instead, focus on Portal Invasion and Storm Summoner, as these events have greater chances to spawn Helltide Commanders at the end once you complete specific tasks. While these events can be challenging, especially as you’re overrun by strong enemies, bringing a team along can be very helpful.
Helltide Commanders Spawning Events in Diablo 4
- During Portal Invasion events, you need to destroy seven portals before the timer ends, while also defeating the demons. Completing the task will ensure that Delakzus, Helltide Commander spawns at the end of the event. Defeat them to claim your rewards.
- Similar to Portal Invasion, the Storm Summoner events also have a chance to spawn the Delakzus, Helltide Commander. Be sure to destroy five different effigies before the time runs out while dealing with difficult enemies.
- Apart from these, another Helltide enemy named Kixxarth, Helltide Assassin spawns randomly during certain Helltide events. Although it is not explicitly listed as a ‘Helltide Commander’, defeating Kixxarth, Helltide Assassin also counts towards your progression in the Seasonal Journey.
