The Dehydrator is a crucial piece of equipment in Stardew Valley, which is needed for processing some food items.
In Stardew Valley, the products made on your farm serve as the backbone of the game as a whole. These products are valuable enough on their own. However, the products can also be used to make more valuable artisan goods.
In general, artisan goods are more valuable than their base ingredients. The way to obtain these artisan goods is to use artisan equipment. One such device is the Dehydrator, which was introduced in Update 1.6. Here is how you can get the Dehydrator and what you can use it for.

How To Get the Dehydrator in Stardew Valley
There are multiple ways to obtain a Dehydrator in Stardew Valley. The simplest and most reliable way is to craft it yourself. To craft it, you will require the recipe, which can be bought from Pierre for 10,000g. The ingredients needed to craft the Dehydrator are:
- 30 Wood
- 2 Clay
- 1 Fire Quartz
Apart from crafting, there are also two other Dehydrators you can get in the game. The first can be obtained through the Prize Machine in the Mayor’s Manor. It is the 12th prize on the list. However, there is only a 50% chance of obtaining the Dehydrator. You may alternatively get a fish smoker instead.
The other way to get a Dehydrator is through the cave. After you have earned over 25,000g, Demetrius will ask to use the cave to set up research specimens. At this point, you will have two options. You can either choose fruit bats (who will leave fruits) or choose mushrooms. If you choose mushrooms, you will also be rewarded with a free Dehydrator. However, keep in mind that this decision is permanent.
What Is the Dehydrator Used For in Stardew Valley?
The Dehydrator is used to make dried versions of your fruits and mushrooms. These dried goods are much more valuable than their normal versions. Altogether, you can make a total of three types of products from the Dehydrator. These are:
- Dried Mushrooms
- Dried Fruits
- Raisins
Dried Mushrooms and Dried Fruits require five of any mushroom and five of any fruit, respectively. Additionally, Raisins require five grapes. The selling price for the dried mushrooms and fruits is over 7.5 times higher than their base versions. Raisins also sell for 600g. As a result, these dried goods, and by extension, the Dehydrator, are a good way to earn some extra income.
