The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is a massive RPG with many amazing weapons, and the Chillrend blade is one of them. The good news is that this one-handed sword is available quite early in the game, making it an ideal choice for newcomers. Additionally, the weapon features a refined design and comes enchanted with Frost Damage.

However, to add the Chillrend sword to your arsenal in Oblivion Remastered, you must first complete The Killing Field quest, as the blade is the reward for that mission.

To start The Killing Field quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, you will first need to find The Grey Mare in Chorrol. It is located west of the Imperial City, as shown in the map above. In Chorrol, you will meet an NPC named Valus Odiil. Valus is facing a difficult situation, and he will ask for your help. This quest is not too difficult; you will simply need to defend Valus, his sons, and his farm from waves of goblins to complete it.

To proceed further in the mission, head to Weynon Priory, located east of Chorrol. There, you will find Rallus and Antus, who are Valus Odiil’s sons. They will take you to their farm. Once you arrive at the Odiil farm, goblins will begin to attack. The level of the enemies will depend on your character’s level; higher-level players will face stronger enemies than those with lower stats.

However, you won’t need to hold your ground for long, as there will only be three waves of enemies. Once you defeat all the goblins and keep both sons alive, speak to Valus, and you will receive the Chillrend as your reward. Keep in mind that in order to get the sword, both sons must survive the attack. If one son dies, you will only receive 150 gold, and if both sons die, Valus won’t give you anything.

Make Sure To Get Chillrend at the Right Time

To briefly recap the entire quest: to get Chillrend, you must first speak to Valus Odiil in Chorrol. Then, locate his two sons near Weynon Priory and defend them and the farm from goblins. However, remember that since unique items in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered have different variants, obtaining the Chillrend sword too early in your playthrough may render it less useful later in the game.

If you plan to use Chillrend as your primary weapon, we highly recommend acquiring it after reaching level 20.
