Learn how to reach Class 6 in Umamusume: Pretty Derby’s Team Trials with tips for optimized team builds and high-scoring skills.

Team Trials is the standard PvP game mode in Umamusume: Pretty Derby. Players start off from Class 1 and can reach a maximum of Class 6. Besides the appeal of being ranked among the top players, achieving Class 6 provides bountiful first-time rewards of Carats and Friend Points. This guide outlines effective tips and tricks to increase your Class rank and maintain it.
Umamusume Pretty Derby: How To Reach Class 6 in Team Trials

To improve your Class rank, you need to reach a score higher than the promotion threshold. The threshold score slightly increases over time as the average score of all players in a class determines it. Currently, you require around 420,000 points in Team Trials to graduate from Class 5 to Class 6, and nearly 450,000 points to retain a Class 6 rank. This means each sub-team needs to score over 80,000 points in their respective race to approach the required score.
Generally speaking, if your entire team of 15 reaches at least B+ rank with effective stat distribution and skills, you will likely have the foundation to reach Class 6. Here are some tips to score high consistently in Team Trials.

Improve Weak Links

Instead of trying to train one extremely powerful veteran uma for every race category, improve the weakest runners on your team first. There are significant score bonuses for all teammates placing within the top three and the top five during a race. Your final score will be better if your team places 3rd, 4th, and 5th, than if it were to place 1st, 6th, and 7th. Ensure that all umas in a team are powerful enough to contest the top spot. The ideal goal is 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each race, further racking up points with the Winning Streak bonus.
Opponent Difficulty
Choose the most difficult of the three opponents (topmost) at first, as they provide a score bonus against wins. If you find yourself losing races too frequently, then shift to the middle difficulty. Getting a 5x winning streak makes up for the loss of the difficulty bonus.
High Scoring Skills
Each skill activation contributes to the score, with unique skills scoring the highest, followed by rare, and lastly, normal skills. Invest in skills that have a high chance of activating during the race.
Concentration Skill
The ‘Concentration’ rare skill, provided by SSR Tazuna Hayakawa Support Card, decreases the time lost to slow starts. Each uma can earn 5,000 points for a Strong Start. ‘Concentration’ ensures a Strong Start as its activation is guaranteed. Investing in ‘Concentration’ provides an advantage to Front Runners, gives 5,000 points per racer for Strong Start, and guarantees 1,200 points from rare skill activation. ‘Focus’ is its normal version, which also has guaranteed activation but does not ensure a Strong Start.
RP Use
If you are not in promotion range but close to the promotion threshold, use up all the RP reserves to get a lucky matchup that will push you over the minimum score requirement.
Aces
The aces in your team occupy the topmost slots of each category in the “Edit Team” menu. They must be the ones most likely to win the race as they have an “ace bonus” for all scores.
Stamina
Understand how much stamina your umas need for each race category. Stamina is the most important stat, and not having enough for the required distance will throttle Speed and Power. Refer to our detailed guide on the stamina required for each race type here.
