Gamers playing Palworld will find Crude Oil to be a pretty useful resource. However, much like any other obtainable item, the game does little to show you how to source it.
Everyone got it back when the game introduced Sakurajima Island. This was update 0.3.1 in Early Access. People got confused after this resource was dropped in the game, not knowing where to look for it and how to get it. We are here to help, though.
First, note that this resource will come in handy if you are looking to craft items like Plasteel, Flamethrower Fuel, Frag Grenades Mk2, and Missile Ammo. All of these are important for you to survive in the harsh world of Palworld. However, if you don’t need them at the moment, don’t bother grinding for Crude Oil yet.

Obtaining Crude Oil in Palworld
There are a few effective ways that you can get Crude Oil in this game. These vary greatly from each other. In my experience, the easiest way is by defeating certain Pals. Monsters like Kitkit, Maraith, and Sootseer have a 50% of dropping Crude Oil upon capture or defeat.
Another way of leaving it to chance is by opening Treasure Chests. Not all Treasure Chests will have the same chance of dropping this resource. If you stumble on to the Oil Rig, the chests there have a higher chance of containing it. You can also get it from the Syndicate Thugs there.
Lastly, if you have reached Level 50 in the game, you can spend two Technology Points to unlock the Crude Oil Extractor. You will then have to use 250 Pal Metal Ingots and 50 Circuit Board to build it successfully. Once built, you just have to place the Extractor on a Crude Oil deposit. You will find these deposits on the black patches on the Sakurajima island map. After building the unit, place a Large Generator for it to function properly.
This last method will slowly and automatically grant you the Crude Oil you were so desperately looking for. While the machine is extracting Oil, go ahead and obtain the resource by the methods we mentioned.
