Ginormosia, the primary island in Fantasy Life i The Girl Who Steals Time, is divided into 15 regions, each with its own tower and area rank. However, some locations on the map are blocked by Purple Seals, which don’t seem to open regardless of other conditions.

Purple Seals in Fantasy Life i are barriers that you can unlock using Dark Fires, which are dropped by Shadow Monsters. However, Shadow Monsters will only drop Dark Fires after you complete the main questline and speak with Trip in the Base Camp. Trip will show you a Stone Slate that he picked up after you defeated the final boss.
You can then present this slate to Edward at the Guild Office. He reveals that there are additional Stone Slates to find and that they unlock Dark Power recipes. This event unlocks Dark Fires, and you can begin farming them by defeating Shadow Monsters.
Where To Find Shadow Monsters in Fantasy Life i The Girl Who Steals Time?
Shadow Monsters are uncommon enemies that can only spawn in a few areas. Currently, these include:
- Fort Gardhart
- Treasure Grove
- Monster Rooms
- Special Monster Rooms
Even when you encounter Shadow Monsters, the drop rate of Dark Fires is very low. Eliminating all the Shadow Monsters in Fort Gardhart may only yield one Dark Fire without buffs that increase drop rates. To farm Dark Fires more efficiently, you can unlock your Combat Lives’ drop rate boosting skills and add Yuelia to your party.
How To Open Purple Seals
To open a Purple Seal, approach the seal and press the use button. A pop-up will show you how many Dark Fires you need to open the seal. Each seal requires a different number of Dark Fires to open, with most needing 30 Dark Fires. Here is a list of all the Purple Seals you can find and the Dark Fires required to open them:
- Banaan Cave: 5 Dark Fires
- Quetzal Nest: 10 Dark Fires
- Lulab Forest: 30 Dark Fires
- Yohoho Cavern: 30 Dark Fires

- Spirit Road: 30 Dark Fires
- The Depths B1: 30 Dark Fires
- Warren Willow Hollow B1: 50 Dark Fires
