Frostshard is a brand-new mythical-tier ore added in the latest Snowy Mountain Update of Prospecting and is also essential in crafting some of the newly introduced equipment (accessories). On top of that, one of the key quests in the Snowy Mountains requires Frostshard, so you’ll need to gather it if you want to keep progressing.

Unlock Snowy Mountains Island
- Head to Caldera Island and talk to the Arctic Traveler NPC at the docks.
- Equip the Dragonflame Shovel (purchased from the Magma Furnace for $400M).
- With the shovel equipped, the NPC will grant access to the Snowy Mountains.
Reach Frostbite Waterfall or Frozen Peak
- Complete bridge-building quests and other Snowy Island progression tasks.
- Frostshard only spawns at Frostbite Waterfall and Frozen Peak.
- These are late-game, high-altitude areas that require full questline progress.
Dig for Frostshard
- Frostshard is a Mythic mineral with an extremely rare drop rate.
- Use your pan and shovel to dig with 6 toughness at the two locations.
- Equip luck-boosting accessories and equipment like the new Frostbite Pan, Luck Potions, or Totems to raise your odds.
- Even with boosts, expect a grind; it’s one of the hardest minerals to obtain.
Quest Usage
At one point, you’ll need a Frostshard to trade with a mountain climber NPC for a bag of meteor fragments. Keep at least one if you’re questing.
