In Pokemon GO, you catch Pokemon, take over gyms, trade, fight fierce battles, and more. You can get the Lucky Pokemon when trading with your Best Friends. To make that happen, you need to fulfill some terms and conditions. In this article, we will explore all that you need to know about Lucky Pokémon.
How To Get Lucky Pokemon in Pokemon GO
You always have a slim chance of getting a Lucky pocket monster while trading with pals. In this process, if one Pokemon gets lucky, the other one will be as well. There are methods for improving your odds of getting it. This is especially helpful when having 50 Lucky pocket monsters, one of the level requirements from Trainer Levels 48 to 49.
How To Increase the Odds of Lucky Pokemon Trade
Research from the The Silph Road, which is now defunct, showed that pocket monster caught a long time ago are more likely to become Lucky. Here’s an overview of the findings:
- Pocket monsters less than a year old have a 5% chance of being Lucky.
- A one-year old critter has a 10% chance.
- Critters that are two years old have a 25% chance.
So, if you have had a rare critter for quite a long time, chances are higher that you will get a Lucky Pokemon.
How To Get Guaranteed Lucky Pokemon
Having a Lucky friend would guarantee a Lucky pocket monster. Anything that would typically boost your friendship has a 1.1% chance of making you both Lucky Friends once you’ve become Best Friends. So, you should never lose hope!
However, once you get a Lucky Pokemon, the Lucky Friend status will reset. So, you have to build it from Great Friends again. However, you can be Lucky Friends with the same person more than once.
Limited 100% Lucky Trade
There is another way to guarantee a Lucky Trade, but the requirements are quite strict. This feature was added on September 5, 2018, to encourage inactive players to return.
Here’s an overview of the requirements:
- One of the Pokémon in the trade must be from 2018 or earlier.
- The Trainer sending the guaranteed Lucky Pokemon must have done fewer than 25 guaranteed Lucky Trades.
The Trainer receiving the Lucky Pokemon doesn’t affect the trade in any way. However, a successful Lucky Trade adds to their count of guaranteed Lucky Trades.
Features of Lucky Pokemon
- Lucky Pokemon has a gold, glowing background on the collection page.
- On the summary screen, they have a green “Lucky Pokemon” label below their name and a gold, shimmering background.
- In the Pokedex, Lucky Pokemon entries have a navy blue background instead of purple.
What Are the Benefits of Having a Lucky Critter?
Lucky Pokemon are very popular because they cost half as much Stardust to power up. In regular trades, a Pokemon’s Individual Values (IVs) are randomly shuffled. However, if a traded Pocket monster becomes Lucky, it will always have at least 80% IVs, making it reliably strong.
If you have a Lucky Friend, try trading a powerful Legendary or pseudo-legendary pocket monster to maximize this bonus.
