If you want to get married to your companion in Elder Scrolls Online but don’t know how to, this guide will walk you through it.

Elder Scrolls Online is an MMORPG, so naturally, the game allows players to experience many real-life elements. In the game, you can do various activities that simulate the real world, like buying property or getting married to someone.
However, unlike in our reality, you won’t be able to organize a massive ceremony to celebrate your commitment to your companion. Still, marriage in ESO comes with some advantages. In this guide, we will discuss everything about it in detail.
Everything You Need To Get Married in Elder Scrolls Online

Marriage is a small and beautiful thing in ESO. It is not difficult to perform, and you won’t need to run around looking for various items either. To get married, all you will really need is a friend and the Pledge of Mara. The latter is exclusive to the Crown Store in Elder Scrolls Online. Players can buy various things from there, and the Pledge of Mara costs 1,000 crowns. Additionally, you can use real-life currency to buy crowns on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
Alternatively, you can also get the Pledge of Mara by buying the Digital Imperial Edition upgrade from the Crown Store. It costs 2,100 crowns and gives you a unique horse mount, the ability to create an imperial character, and the mudcrab pet. Thankfully, both players don’t need to buy the Pledge of Mara, as only one having is sufficient.
How To Perform the Ritual

After acquiring the item, you will need to go to a Shrine of Mara. Fortunately, each faction’s zones have these shrines in multiple numbers. However, if you want a more specific location, then you will find the shrines in Daggerfall, Wayrest, Vulkhel Guard, Davon’s Watch, Mournhold, Alinor, Solitude, Rimmen, Leyawiin, and Elden Root. These shrines are usually inside the city chapel. They are known as rededication shrines.
Once you and your companion have reached one of the Shrines of Mara, stand next to each other and close to the shrine. Then, add the Pledge of Mara to a quickslot. After that, select your friend’s name tag and use the Pledge of Mara from the quickshot wheel. Your friend will receive a prompt asking for their consent. Once they hit yes, the ritual will be complete, and you will both get the rings of Mara.
These items will give both of you a 10% experience bonus when you are near each other or in a group. But this ring is character-specific, and this bonus won’t apply to your other characters.
Players Won’t Be Able To Marry a NPC in ESO

Furthermore, if you’re wondering whether you can marry an NPC in ESO, the game does not allow it. There is no way to do that since it is an MMORPG. In the game, two players are necessary to perform a marriage. However, since there is no divorce mechanism in Elder Scrolls Online, the game allows you to marry multiple people.
