The best way to acquire the Shard of Verathiel is through the Infernal Hordes mode, introduced in Season 5. As you progress through The Eyes of the Enemy” and “To the Edge of the Abyss quests, you will find the Infernal Compass, which is used to open the portal to Infernal Horde mode.

Grind Aether, the exclusive currency of the mode, by participating in Infernal Horde mode. Use it to open the Spoils of Hell and the Spoils of Greater Equipment, where the Shard of Verathiel can drop as one of the available rewards. How Shard of Verathiel’s Unique Effect Work in Diablo 4?

Shard of Verathiel is a one-hand Unique Sword that boosts various stats, including All Stats, Maximum Resource, Basic Attack Speed, and Skills.

The in-game description of Shard of Verathiel’s unique effect reads:

“Basic Skills deal [50 – 200]%[x] increased damage but additionally cost 25 Primary Resource.”

While Shard of Verathiel greatly increases the damage of basic skills, it comes with a drawback. It consumes an additional 25 primary resources. For instance, this means 25 Fury for Barbarians and 25 Energy for Rogues. With proper resource management, the Shard of Verathiel can serve as one of the deadliest melee weapons, especially for classes like Barbarians and Rogues.
