If you have played any Elder Scrolls game before, there’s a high chance you know about the Dark Brotherhood. It is an organization full of skilled assassins who have considerable influence and power. The group is so secretive that there is no actual way to contact them yourself. However, joining them starts a long chain of quests, and the reward of one of those quests is the Blade of Woe.

Blade of Woe is a unique weapon. Unlike normal weapons, unique weapons only exist in a single quantity across the entire game. And if you lose your chance to get one, you lose it forever, which includes the Blade of Woe.

To help you get it, here’s a guide on how you can get the Blade of Woe in Oblivion Remastered.

The Dark Brotherhood is a very mysterious faction in Oblivion Remastered. The only way to make them contact you is by murdering an innocent civilian. It is quite easy to kill an NPC, but you have to be careful and not kill any unique NPCs. Unique NPCs can give quests, so killing them can lock you out from taking on those quests.

After you kill someone, go and sleep in any place. You will then wake up to a mysterious person looking down on you. The person’s name is Lucien Lachance, a speaker from the Dark Brotherhood. Speak with him and exhaust all his dialogues to get the iconic Blade of Woe as an initiation gift; that is, if you choose to join the Dark Brotherhood. If you do not wish to join the faction, kill Lucien to get the knife from his body.

Later on in the Dark Brotherhood quest, you can get the Demoralize enchantment on the Blade of Woe, which discourages enemies from hitting you in combat.
