Everything you need to know about Zoh Shia in Monster Hunter Wilds, including how to unlock the High Rank quest, Investigations, and more.

Zoh Shia is easily the biggest new addition to Monster Hunter Wilds’ base game. However, despite being a replayable monster now, Zoh Shia is still a monster that can be a bit tricky to find and hunt in the overworld. Furthermore, the game doesn’t do a great job of explaining how you can replay the encounter against Zoh Shia without having to go through the multiplayer hoops.
Not only does Zoh Shia offer what is arguably one of the most challenging battles in the entire game, but it is also the source of the best endgame weapons. Furthermore, Zoh Shia also has a dedicated armor set. While the armor isn’t particularly great in terms of stats, it still serves as a great Layered Armor option. Here’s everything you need to know about Zoh Shia in Monster Hunter Wilds, and how to get the monster’s Investigation Quest.
How To Unlock Zoh Shia in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Before you can hunt Zoh Shia in an Investigation Quest, you need to defeat it in its dedicated main story quest. However, to get to the quest that leads you to Zoh Shia, you need to first complete the entire High Rank campaign and reach Hunter Rank (HR) 50. Once you meet the aforementioned conditions, head to Suja and talk to Werner to start the Zoh Shia story quest.
While the quest is available at HR 50, we recommend taking on the monster after hitting HR 100. By that time, you’ll have a fully upgraded endgame build, coupled with a better understanding of your weapon. Zoh Shia, much like the Tempered Apex Monsters, is meant to be an endgame challenge.
As such, it’s best to tackle the monster with a fully prepared loadout. Here’s a recommended Great Sword build you can try for Zoh Shia. Once you complete the Zoh Shia hunting quest, you can encounter the monster in the overworld as an Investigation Quest. However, much like Tempered Apex Monsters, Zoh Shia is an area-specific monster and only appears in Wyveria.
How To Get Zoh Shia Investigation Quest?

Similarly to the Tempered Monsters, Zoh Shia appears randomly in Wyveria. However, the monster has a higher tendency to show up during Fallow and Inclemency. Furthermore, Evening and Nighttime have a higher chance of forcing Zoh Shia to spawn. You can change the weather and time from any of the camps across the map; however, we found that using the Base Camp at Wyveria yielded the best results. Essentially, you need to rest at the Base Camp at Wyveria and change the time and weather to Fallow-Evening, Fallow-Nighttime, Inclemency-Evening, or Inclemency-Nighttime.
Additional Notes
If you can’t get Zoh Shia Investigation to show up, you can always farm the monster using the SOS Hunts. However, do note that using the SOS feature will require a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live subscription on consoles.
