What Are Glyphs in Diablo 4?

To start with Glyphs, you need to reach level 60. Once you’ve hit that milestone, Glyphs can drop from various activities, but the best way to acquire them is through Pit or Nightmare Dungeons. Keep an eye out for these drops, as Glyphs can be easily missed due to their similarity to regular items.

Glyphs are rune-like items that provide both a main bonus and an additional bonus. The main bonus typically scales based on the number of nodes of a specific stat within the Glyph’s range. For example, the Tactician Glyph for Sorcerer builds gives a percentage bonus to all Rare nodes by default. If there are 25 Dexterity nodes within its range, you will deal bonus damage after casting a Defensive skill.

Leveling up Glyphs in Diablo 4 is directly tied to your personal power level. Here’s how you can level your Glyphs up in the game:

  1. Complete Pit of the Artificer Runs: Glyphs can only be leveled up after finishing Pit of the Artificer runs as of the Vessel of Hatred expansion. Each completed run gives you three attempts to upgrade your Glyphs, with an extra attempt if you finish the run without dying.
  2. Optimize Your Build: The faster you clear a Pit run, the quicker you can upgrade your Glyphs. You should try and optimize your build to clear high-tier Pit runs efficiently. If you are using lower-level Glyphs in your build, they will level up faster in higher-tier runs. For example, upgrading a level 1 Glyph after a level 30 Pit run will increase the Glyph’s level by two for every successful upgrade.
  3. Insert Glyphs into Paragon Board: Place your Glyphs into sockets found in your Paragon Board. All Glyphs begin with a base bonus and an additional bonus. This requires a certain number of stat nodes within its range to unlock. Leveling Glyphs up to 15 and 45 will expand their ranges, making them more effective across various Paragon boards.

Make sure you place your Glyphs in Paragon boards that can satisfy their stat requirements by focusing on sockets with high stat nodes. You should aim to level your Glyphs to 15 as quickly as possible to unlock their extended range and maximize their benefits. Additionally, you need to go after legendary upgrades, as Glyphs that reach level 45 become Legendary. This gives them an extra stat bonus in the process.
