Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is a serious RPG, but one that also has its fair share of lighthearted moments. Although the story here is rather grim and oppressive, the game has some bright moments. And much like any other RPG, Expedition 33 features a wealth of outfits for players to unlock and collect throughout their journey across the Continent. Among the wealth of costumes are the Baguette Outfits, which you can collect for all party members as you progress through the main story. However, the Baguette Outfits are locked behind what is easily among the toughest mini-boss enemies in the game – the Mimes. Surprisingly enough, you can get the Baguette Outfit for Gustav fairly early in the game.

However, to get your hands on this unique costume, you will have to first locate the Mime in the opening area. Given how short the first region of Expedition 33 is, it’s quite easy for players to skip past this mini-boss without ever realizing it. Here’s everything you need to know about Gustav’s Baguette Outfit in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, and how to obtain it.

You can find Gustav’s Baguette Outfit in the first main story location of the Clair Obscur Expedition 33 – Spring Meadows. Just go through the main story quest until you reach the Grand Meadow Rest Point (Flag). From the Grand Meadow, simply take the path towards the southeast which leads to a darker area with a Nevron ambush. Defeat the Nevron patrolling the area. If you’re struggling with the Nevron, you can use Lune’s Free Aim to deal elemental damage before using a skill. Once you have defeated the Nevron, head south until you reach a platform with a grappling point. From here, you need to grapple twice until you reach the adjacent platform with a set of stairs.

Making your way up the stairs, you will find a Mime standing in the arena. Now comes the hardest part of the quest: you need to defeat the Mime to get the Baguette Outfit. While the Mimes don’t necessarily have a complicated set of movesets, they’re incredibly resilient to damage and dish out a ton of it in return. Furthermore, the Mimes are also capable of Guarding, which makes it even harder to dish out damage to them. Thankfully, there are some easy ways to defeat the Mimes and get your Baguette Outfits.

How To Defeat the Mime?

While it is possible to defeat the Mime in the Spring Meadows with just Lune and Gustav, we don’t recommend doing so. Apart from a bit of XP, you aren’t really missing out on much by skipping the Mimes for later. As such, it’s best to come back to defeat these mini-bosses when you’re a bit stronger and have access to better weapons, skills, and Pictos. We recommend tackling the Spring Meadows Mime after you reach Level 20 with all your characters. Also, for the party make up, we recommend using Gustav, Lune, and Maelle. The Mimes have a set amount of moves with a rather predictable timing. As such, instead of dodging, it’s best to parry instead of dodge its attacks.

The Mimes always start the battle by creating a wall, giving them 3 Guards (Shields). You can either shoot these (recommended in early-game) or sacrifice a turn by performing a 3-hit skill. As for the Mime’s own attacks, it’s usually either a 3-hit or a 4-hit combo. If you’re not confident with your parry timings, it’s best to rely on dodge. However, do note that counterattacks deal more physical damage, which is the primary weakness of the Mimes.

As for skills, elemental damage doesn’t work all that well against the Mimes. As such, you want Maelle in your party for the Percee skill. With a few tries, you should be able to time your parries against the Mime. You can also use skills that inflict Burn status to help whittle down the boss’s HP. Once you’ve defeated the Mime, you will get Gustav’s Baguette Outfit as a reward.
