Wheel Control is one of the easiest trophies to unlock in Clair Obscur Expedition 33. However, the trophy’s description is what makes it incredibly difficult to understand and even unlock for many players.

On the surface, Wheel Control has fairly simple requirements – with Monoco, cast an upgraded skill 4 turns in a row. However, as of the writing of this article, there’s no clear indication in-game for which skills of Monoco are classified as “upgraded” and which ones aren’t.

This obviously makes it difficult to figure out which skills you need to use and, ultimately, unlock the trophy. However, there’s a very simple trick to figuring out the upgraded skills in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.

Upgraded skills essentially relate to the Beastial Wheel of Monoco’s, and the Masks. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to easily unlock the Wheel Control trophy in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.

To unlock the Wheel Control trophy, you need to use 4 upgraded skills with Monoco and successfully complete an encounter. Essentially, you need to use skills 4 times in a row, in accordance with Monoco’s Beastial Wheel. If it’s your first time using Monoco, it should be noted that the Beastial Wheel operates on RNG.

As such, during combat, it will periodically cycle randomly between different Masks. Now, to use upgraded skills, you need to cast powerful skills (not the default ones that Monoco comes with) based on the active Mask on the Beastial Wheel. For instance, if the Beast Wheel has Caster active, you need to use a skill with the Caster Mask.

Using a skill with the same Mask as the Beastial Wheel allows you to deal more damage and is a great way to stack elemental affinities. You need to cast 4 skills based on the Beastial Wheel, to finally unlock the Wheel Control trophy. However, you cannot use just any skills for Wheel Control. Here’s a recommended set of skills that you can use to easily unlock the Wheel Control trophy:

  • Sakapatate Fire
  • Chevaliere Ice
  • Sakapatate Explosion
  • Creation Void
  • Grosse Tete Whack
  • Chepaliere Slash

Do note that Monoco doesn’t have access to a traditional skill tree. Instead, you organically unlock his skills as you defeat different enemies and bosses. Monoco can also use some of the main story enemies as part of his skills, such as the Dualliste, Lampmaster, etc. We do recommend unlocking the Wheel Control trophy after you have access to all of Monoco’s skills.

While it might look incredibly difficult and tedious, unlocking all of Monoco’s skills is quite easy. You essentially need to have Monoco in your active party while you defeat enemies to unlock his skills. The best place to farm skills for Monoco is the Endless Towers.

However, you can also go through the Monolith and other main story dungeons to unlock the majority of the characters’ skills. If you’re having trouble, you can always use Maelle’s one-shot build to make getting the Nevron Feet (Monoco’s skills) significantly easier.
