Modding games can be very helpful. Read this article to learn how you can rebind controls in PEAK by using mods.
PEAK is a co-op climbing title released by Aggro Crab and Landfall Studios. The core mechanic of the game is quite simple, but the unpredictability of the environment and procedural generation of items increases the difficulty by quite a few levels. Fortunately, the developers have created a perfect combo of fun and rage, which compels you to click ‘Play Again’ after each failed attempt.
However, despite having nearly 20,000 very positive reviews, the developers are yet to deliver some basic yet important quality of life features. One such feature is Key Rebinding, which means changing control settings according to your comfort. Due to the absence of Key Rebinding, you cannot change any type of control and are forced to play with the predetermined controls.
Fortunately, you can add a mod that allows you to change any predetermined control/input in the game. Adding mods can be confusing for many players, so here’s a guide to help you add one to rebind controls in PEAK.

Install PEAK Unbound To Play With Many Players
PEAK Unbound is an open-source mod made by a modder, ‘glarmer’, a few days after the release of the game. You can download it for free on Nexus Mods, along with many other mods such as PEAK Unlimited, which allows more than four players to play together in a single lobby. Do note that you can only add mods on PC and not on consoles.
To start adding mods, you have to first install BepInEx and learn how to add mods to the game. You can use the linked guide to learn how to do it with ease. Once you have created the plugins folder in your game directory, follow these steps:
- Visit this site to install the latest version of PEAK Unbound.
- Unzip the compressed file using WinRAR in the plugins folder.
- Boot up the application and close it to patch the mod files with the game.
- Open the ‘PEAKUnbound.cfg’ file in configs and rebind the controls according to your wish.
- Save the file and start the game to enjoy brand new personalized controls.
You can now open the same file to change the settings whenever you wish.
Do note that there are chances that the game might underperform in some scenarios, such as delivering a lower framerate or crashing randomly. If such happens, remove the mod manually from the folder and try to run the game to see if it is the mod that is causing the crash. If yes, then wait for an updated version of either the mod or the game.
