The Open Hand Temple Murders, as the name suggests, are a series of murders associated with the Open Hand Temple in the city of Rivington. As part of the “Solve the Open Hand Temple Murders” quest in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3, players have to solve the mystery by interrogating suspects and witnesses and analyzing the crime scene.

In this guide, we shall detail how you can go about the quest and reap its rewards.

Solve the Open Hand Temple Murders Quest Location

You will stumble across the murder mystery outside the Open Hand Temple in city of Rivington in Act 3 of the game. As you navigate the crowd and the commotion around the temple, you will learn of the murder of Father Lorgan by a refugee named Brilgor.

In the temple compound, you will find Sister Yannis talking to the investigator, who concludes that Brilgor committed the murder and then killed himself for an unknown reason.

The Quest is logged when you interact with Sister Yannis. The Sister feels that the investigation was shoddy and that Brilgor was not the culprit. She requests you to investigate the murder. From this point on, you can navigate any part of the temple to aid in the investigation.

How to Solve the Open Hand Temple Murders

Once in charge of the investigation, explore the temple and talk to as many people as possible to get a better picture of the crime. Speak to Sister Rose in the room where Father Lorgan’s corpse is kept. The Sister will reveal that Lorgan’s body shows signs of paralytic poisoning.

Here, you can use Speak With Dead to talk to the Father himself, who will exonerate Brilgor by stating that the culprit was a “dwarf in a red dress”.

The next thing to do is to head to the crime scene. Go to the kitchen and drop down the Ornate Wooden Hatch. Follow the doors till you reach a big hall with statues. From here, take a left to find a hidden button. On the opposite wall is the other hidden button. Press the two buttons together to reveal the secret passageway between the statues.

The passage leads to the crime scene. Be wary of an ambush by three shapeshifters. Defeat them, and one of them will drop a key with the flower motif. You will also find the murder weapon – the Stillmaker – in a hole nearby.

Use the Flower Key

With the Flower Key in hand, head to Fraygo’s Flophouse, which is north of the Open Hand Temple. To enter the building, you must enter Sharess’ Caress and go up to the balcony. Then, use Misty Step and teleport to the Flophouse.

The Flower Key unlocks the wardrobe in the Flophouse, which leads to a secret room. Take a look at the bloodstained parchment on the desk. It will reveal that Father Lorgan’s murder was part of a bigger Bhaal plot. Also, under the bed in the room, you will find a body that will give you Ffion’s Key.

Report Your Findings

Find Inspector Valeria in Sharess’ Caress. Hand over the parchment and let her know what you found to exonerate Brilgor. This will solve the case and mark the quest as completed.
