Curios in Black Myth: Wukong are items that you can equip the The Destined One with to get certain buffs. These can range from increasing your Crit Hit Chance to providing resistance against the four banes. By default, you have two curio slots unlocked in the game.
However, you can get additional curio slots by defeating the Yin Tiger. In this article, we will explain how you can unlock additional curio slots in Black Myth: Wukong.
Steps to Unlock Additional Curio Slots in Black Myth: Wukong
You must defeat the Yin Tiger to unlock additional curio slots in Black Myth: Wukong. Unlocking more curio slots will provide you with a significant advantage. More slots means more buffs, and this will only make you a more dangerous monkey in the game.
Follow these steps to unlock additional curio slots in Black Myth: Wukong:
Step 1: Unlock the Zodiac Village
You must complete Chen Loong’s quest and obtain the Ruyi Scroll in Chapter 3 of Black Myth: Wukong. Chen Loong’s quest line begins from the North of Bitter Lake Keeper’s Shrine in The New West region.
After you complete this quest, you will gain access to the Zodiac Village. Remember to rest at the Keeper’s Shrine in the Zodiac Village and unlock it as a Fast Travel point.
Step 2: Challenge and Defeat the Yin Tiger
The Yin Tiger can be found in the Zodiac Village in Black Myth: Wukong. From the Keeper’s Shrine, you should see a path that leads to a separate area just a few steps away. The Yin Tiger will be attending to his weapon here. Unlike other bosses who attack you on sight, the Yin Tiger is an amicable NPC whom you must manually challenge for a fight.
Defeating the Yin Tiger is not an easy task as the boss is extremely aggressive and mobile. Wielding a black greatsword, he uses a variety of attacks that will test your mettle. Be careful to avoid his combos by using perfect dodges.
After you defeat the Yin Tiger, you will immediately be awarded the Ebon Flow Transformation Spell, which will let you take on the Tiger’s form and wield the greatsword.
Step 3: Talk to Yin Tiger After Defeating Him
Simply talk to the Yin Tiger after defeating him to unlock an additional curio slot in Black Myth: Wukong. You should see an option that says “Equip More Curios” when you talk to him after defeating him. In your first playthrough, you will be able to increase your curio slots from two to three.
Note that Yin Tiger will only increase your curio slot capacity by one per playthrough. Even if you challenge and defeat him 10 times in a single playthrough, you will only be able to increase your curio slot capacity once.
What is the Maximum Number of Additional Curio Slots You Can Get in Black Myth: Wukong?
You can have a total of five Curio Slots in Black Myth: Wukong. However, your curio slot number can only increase once per playthrough. The third curio slot can be unlocked in the first playthrough.
However, to get the fourth and fifth curio slots in Black Myth: Wukong, you will have to keep doing New Game+ journeys. The following list should make this easier to understand:
- 3rd Curio Slot – First playthrough
- 4th Curio Slot – NG+ (second playthrough)
- 5th Curio Slot – NG++ (or NG+2; third playthrough)
If you are going for NG+3 or further ahead, you will be able to challenge and defeat the Yin Tiger, but you will not be awarded any more curio slots after you have unlocked all five of them.
