Everything you need to know about the Blacksmith, Qazumaka, in The First Berserker Khazan, including how to unlock him, requirements, and more.

The Blacksmith in The First Berserker: Khazan is easily the most important NPC in the entire game. Not only does he help craft new weapons for Khazan, but the Blacksmith is the only way to obtain the rare Boss Armor Sets. Furthermore, weapon and armor crafting in The First Berserker plays a vital role in the game’s progression. Much like in the Nioh series, armor and weapon skills are the primary pillars of The First Berserker’s progression.
Although you can get armor pieces and even weapons from killing and grinding bosses, it’s an incredibly time-consuming process. Having access to the Blacksmith makes the build-crafting process much easier.
Unfortunately, the Blacksmith isn’t available in the game right from the start. Instead, you need to make substantial main story progress to unlock him. Here’s everything you need to know about the Blacksmith, Qazumaka, in The First Berserker Khazan and how to unlock him.
Where To Find the Blacksmith in The First Berserker Khazan

The Blacksmith, Qazumaka, is unlocked after you complete the fifth main story mission in Skoffa Cave. This quest is unlocked after defeating the Volbino in Phraugh Village. At the end of the main story in Skoffa Cave, you will have to fight and defeat Aratra. After defeating the boss and completing the quest, Qazumaka is unlocked in the Crevice. Aratra isn’t a particularly difficult boss and can be defeated relatively easily, especially using a spear.
Make sure you’re carrying poison/toxin resistance consumables to counter the boss’ elemental attacks, and you will defeat it in no time. After you unlock Qazumaka in the Crevice, you can talk to him.
Although completing the Skoffa Cave mission unlocks the Blacksmith, it doesn’t unlock crafting. Upon talking to Qazumaka in the Crevice, he will ask you to retrieve his hammer, which ultimately allows him to craft weapons and armor.
How To Unlock Weapon and Armor Crafting

To enable crafting for Qazumaka, you need to first talk to him and unlock the Blacksmith’s Heirloom optional quest in the Spider’s Tomb. This is a fairly short optional quest that requires you to fight Bearius at the end of it. Bearius is essentially a reskinned and toughened-up version of the regular bear enemy type. Weapons like the spear and dual wield work incredibly well against the boss.
To make the boss even easier, you can invest a few points into the Reflection skill, which will allow you to keep the boss in a constant stagger. After defeating Bearius, you will obtain the Blacksmith’s Hammer key item. Returning this item to Qazumaka will allow him to craft new gear.
