Everything you need to know about the Training Arena in Elden Ring Nightreign, including its location, how to unlock it, features, and more.

Elden Ring Nightreign is quite different from FromSoftware’s past games, not only in terms of progression, but also in the general moment-to-moment gameplay. One of the biggest changes between the original Elden Ring and Nightreign has to be the combat system and its pacing. Since you don’t have access to a custom character (Tarnished), understanding the combat system can take some time, even for veterans of the Souls games. Unlike in Elden Ring, Nightreign gives you the choice of eight different Nightfarers, each with their own set of abilities and passive perks. You can check out the details of the Nightfarers in the character selection menu at the Roundtable Hold.
However, you won’t be able to get a proper idea of how they work until you head out on an Expedition. Thankfully, there’s another way to test out different Nightfarers and their abilities in the game — the Training Arena. Here’s everything you need to know about the Training Arena in Elden Ring Nightreign, how to access it, its features, and more.
Where To Find the Training Arena in Elden Ring Nightreign?

The Training Arena (Sparring Grounds) can be found to the north of the Roundtable Hold. Simply exit the building from the eastern or southern path, and you will reach the Sparring Grounds. Additionally, the Sparring Grounds is available to use right after completing the prologue. You can essentially use the area to get a better feel of all the Nightfarers before setting out on your first Expedition. In addition to offering static targets that you can use to test out combos as well as the overall damage dealt by them, you also have access to a Marionette that can be used to test out deflections and counterattacks. Additionally, you can also tweak various parameters of combat in the Training Grounds.
Pressing the touchpad or the options button will open up a settings menu that you can use to tweak various elements of the Sparring Grounds. You can tweak how quickly your HP, FP, and Stamina regenerate. Furthermore, you can quickly refill your Ultimate Arts and Skill gauges to test out their uses. The Sparring Grounds in Elden Ring Nightreign is quite similar to the Training Area in Monster Hunter games, complete with modifiers. We highly recommend using it to test different Nightfarers before heading out on an Expedition.
Choosing a Nightfarer can be quite difficult, especially in the opening hours of the game. While the basic combat system remains identical for all Nightfares, their abilities and passive skills vary a lot. As such, testing out the abilities in the Training Arena beforehand helps a lot with deciding which Nightfarer you should go with. Also, it’s a great way to test out the efficiency of different Relic configurations.
