Learn how to complete Lanayru Defiled in Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment, defeat sludge enemies, and recruit Qia effectively.
Lanayru Defiled is the eleventh mission in Chapter 3 of Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment. It takes you to the soaked lands of Lanayru Province, surrounded by murky water and enemies covered in sludge. The mission introduces Qia, the Zora Queen and Sage of Water.
She is quick, skilled with a spear, and uses water-based attacks that are perfect for dealing with sludge-coated enemies. Along with Qia, you also get access to a useful new tool called the Hydrant Zonai Device. It sprays water and helps wash away the sludge that protects stronger enemies.
How To Complete Lanayru Defiled in Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment
You will start the mission by clearing out two groups of Blue Bokoblins. Once that is done, you will run into a Moblin coated in thick sludge. The Hydrant Zonai Device or Qia’s Torrential Wave skill both work great for this.
Next, make your way to the center of the map to meet Qia. After a short cutscene, she joins your team as a playable character. Her water-infused spear attacks, like Torrential Wave and Impaling Spear, are perfect for taking down sludge-covered enemies fast. She also moves quickly, so it will be easy to control in hectic fights.
Soon after, you will face a new enemy type called the Sludge Like. It is a blob-like monster that soaks the ground with thick muck. Using Qia’s water attacks or the Hydrant helps you defeat it quickly. When it falls, you get a chest containing another Hydrant Zonai Device, which means you can now give water powers to any character.
From here, the mission asks you to capture multiple outposts. You can split your team to make things quicker. While doing this, new sludge enemies appear, trying to take back captured areas. Placing the Hydrant device in smart spots can help keep your bases safe while you move forward.
In the eastern part of the map, you will run into a sludge-covered Hinox. Wash off the muck first, then focus on its weak points with regular attacks. Once you defeat it, move toward the southern section of the map for the final fight against Grimtorok.
Grimtorok’s battle happens in two phases. At first, it is covered in red sludge, so use Qia’s water attacks to clean it off. After that, its weak points are open to any type of attack. Keep dodging its heavy swings, time your counters right, and finish the fight with a few strong combos.
Where Lanayru Defiled in Hyrule Warriors Quest Rewards
Once you clear Lanayru Defiled, you will unlock Qia, the Sage of Water, as a permanent playable character. You also get the Hydrant Zonai Device, which is very useful in future missions filled with sludge enemies. The following are the additional rewards you earn:
- A solid boost of experience for all characters
- A good amount of rupees
- Zonaite Steel and other Lanayru materials
