Imagen 4 AI Generation Model Revealed at Google I/O 2025

AI image generation is getting much better with Imagen 4, announced by Google recently. Check out the new capabilities!

Many tech companies have been making major innovations in Artificial Intelligence, and Google is doing great right now with many amazing announcements made at their recent I/O 2025 event. 

Text-to-video AI content generation recently became available through Google Veo 2. A big announcement made by Google was Imagen 4, which is the company’s next-generation AI image generation model. Let’s check out what’s new here!

Google Imagen 4 New Features 

According to Google, Imagen 4 can generate images in many aspect ratios. Moreover, it can even create images in up to 2K resolution. Since the company has been protective and aware of AI being misused, especially to spread misinformation, a SynthID identification system will be deployed to ensure the detection of AI-generated images.

The new Imagen 4 can create highly advanced images, with intricate details of animal fur, water, and even cloth fabrics being visible. The above image shows how detailed the fashion garment is generated by the latest AI model.

Of course, to give freedom to the creativity of the user, Google will allow you to select between styles that look photo-realistic or abstract. However, there’s another major improvement that was great to hear – Imagen 4 has better image generation capabilities concerning textual matter.

Before, AI image generation was not great at creating images that involved text and video. However, with Imagen 4, typography and spelling capabilities have been improved quite heavily. You won’t be seeing random alien-like language anymore when generating images with this latest model.

Google provided many image samples, and we’ve attached another one above, which is a comic about a cat. The image shows the cute animal talking about the snack he’s trying to acquire from a vending machine. The words have no rendering or clarity issues and are spelled out properly. By the way, Google even showed a benchmark of Imagen 4 against its competitors.

This is judged on the basis of the Elo score, on GenAI bench where metrics like latency are quite important. Imagen 4 Ultra and Imagen 4 come out on top, being ahead of other AI models, including Midjourney and DALL-E, which were very popular when AI image generation first became popular. 

Google is looking to steadily improve Imagen 4, and it’s great to see how far AI image generation has come. Few developers who integrate Google’s AI technologies have started integrating the latest model. Cartwheel, notably known as a text-to-video animation platform, will see enhanced results with Imagen 4.
