Call of Duty added the third chapter to its Modern Warfare reboot in 2023. But is Modern Warfare 3 still worth your time in the year 2025? It has been more than a year since its release. Activision even did their annual honors of releasing another game in 2024, Black Ops 6. But does that mean that people have left behind MW-III already?

Let’s explore whether returning to Modern Warfare this year is worth your time or a waste. We will evaluate the game based on three criteria: its multiplayer aspects, visuals, and gameplay. We are not here to make up your mind but to help you decide whether you should return to the game. After all, as Captain Price would say, it’s all a matter of perspective.

The Multiplayer Aspect

Surprisingly, even several months after the release of Black Ops 6, Modern Warfare 3 (2023) hasn’t lost the entirety of its player base. The game’s campaign was disappointingly short, but that forced everybody to start with the multiplayer early. And it turns out, people don’t hate it.

According to some statistics, the game can even get up to 40K players across the globe. It’s not much for a multiplayer game, but it’s far from dead. However, most of the time, this game is bound to face matchmaking issues. So, if you don’t like waiting in lobbies for long, and let’s be honest, who does? Then this game might disappoint you in 2025.

The Visuals Are Good as Ever

Call of Duty keeps the series loaded with stunning visuals. It has only been slightly more than a year since the release of this game, and the visuals haven’t improved all that much for Black Ops 6. So, Modern Warfare 3 is competing with the latest game in the Call of Duty franchise as a visually stunning game for sure.

Some things may be different. For example, the game’s HUD appears very different now that we have played Black Ops 6. However, if you are a fan of realistic-looking games, Modern Warfare 3 (2023) will still impress you in 2025.

Gameplay Might Feel Different

All Call of Duty games play very similarly. You run and shoot the opponent, build that killstreak, complete the objective, and repeat it all. However, it’s all in the details that might make or break an installment. Since Black Ops 6 introduced omnimovement to the franchise, you will not find it in MW3.

Plus, some of the weapons may feel outdated if you are used to the arsenal in the latest installment instead. But don’t be fooled, because the game will still likely contain skilled players ready to obliterate you in a random lobby.

If you are okay with playing a military shooter primarily based on its visuals and overall representation, then Modern Warfare 3 is worth your time in 2025. However, if you value the other two aspects just as much, you might not like returning to it.
