Civilization 7 is not available on the Xbox Game Pass, and the only way to play the game is to purchase one of its three available editions.
After years of neglect, fans of turn-based strategy games are finally eating good again. The genre has seen a bit of a revival over the last couple of years with games such as Manor Lords, Godsworn, Age of Mythology: Retold, and many more.
Heading into 2025, developer Firaxis Games is looking to keep the momentum going with Sid Meier’s Civilization 7. The long-anticipated sequel to Sid Meier’s Civilization 6 has been years in the making, and we just cannot wait to get our hands on it.
With so much hype surrounding the game, many new players may want to jump in and give it a shot. However, the $69.99 for the Standard Edition alone is a steep asking price and one a new player may not be willing to pay.
This is where the Xbox Game Pass subscription usually comes in clutch, letting you try games out for much cheaper. However, Civilization 7 will not be available on Xbox Game Pass. The only way to play the game is to purchase any of the three available editions.
Civilization 7 Is Not Available on Xbox Game Pass
As we stated earlier, Civilization 7 is not available on the Xbox Game Pass. This does not mean that it will not be in the future, but for now, there is no word from the developer on the same. The game will be released on February 11, 2025, and will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
If you’re looking to play the game, the only way to do so is to purchase any of the three available editions. These three editions are the Standard Edition, the Deluxe Edition, and the Founders Edition.
The Standard Edition includes just the base game, while the Deluxe and Founders Edition include various perks, the most notable of which is the Advanced Access. This perk gives you access to the game early on February 6, 2025. The other perks with the premium editions include extra cosmetics, new leaders, new civilizations, profile customizations and more.
Since the game is not on the Xbox Game Pass, you have to purchase the game to play it. If you’re looking to give the game a shot as a new player, the Standard Edition is the one you want to go for.
