Everything you need to know about Doom The Dark Ages’ Premium Edition, including its content and whether it’s worth buying or not.

Doom: The Dark Ages, the upcoming new entry in the iconic first-person shooter series, is scheduled to release in just a few short months. Much like the past few Doom titles, The Dark Ages is an arcade shooter with some platforming elements. Although the previous Doom games did feature a dedicated multiplayer mode, The Dark Ages is purely a single-player experience.
The game is technically a prequel to Doom (2016). However, in terms of its gameplay, it has much more in common with Doom Eternal. Much like its predecessor, Doom: The Dark Ages relies on fast-paced combat, complete with a vast assortment of demon-killing arsenal, fit for the Doom Slayer.
Furthermore, with their latest title, id Software aims to deliver a more grounded (and visceral) “Doom experience.” Doom: The Dark Ages is currently available for pre-order on all current-gen platforms. The game is offered in two different editions, alongside exclusive pre-order bonuses. However, which edition is worth buying, and is it worth spending extra for the Premium bundle? Let’s find out.

What Is Included in Doom The Dark Ages Premium Edition?

Doom: The Dark Ages is scheduled to be released on May 15, 2025. The game is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC (Steam). Furthermore, pre-orders for the game are already live on all platforms (including PS5).
The game is offered in two editions – Standard and Premium. The Standard Edition is priced at $70 and comes with the base game. The Premium Edition, on the other hand, is priced at $100 and comes with a few additional cosmetics on top of the Standard Edition content. Furthermore, the Premium Edition also grants access to the post-launch Story Expansions. Here’s a rundown of the two editions:
Standard Edition ($69.99)
- Base game
- Pre-order bonus skin pack
Premium Edition ($99.99)
- Base game
- Pre-order bonus skin pack
- Up to 2-day early access
- Campaign add-on
- Digital artbook & soundtrack
- Divinity skin pack
The pre-order bonus for Doom: The Dark Ages includes the Void DOOM Slayer skin. Do note that the 2-day early access is only applicable to the Premium Edition pre-order. Furthermore, the Premium Edition content might be available as a separate purchase post-release. However, as of writing this article, the only way to secure the Premium Edition exclusives is to pre-order the $100 version of the game.
Is Doom The Dark Ages Premium Edition Worth It?

The exclusive skins included in the Doom: The Dark Ages Premium Edition are certainly something fans of the franchise might not want to miss out on. However, not for $100. Although the Premium Edition does come with incentives like “early access” and Story DLCs, it’s still a bit too expensive to justify a purchase.
Furthermore, if Doom Eternal’s post-launch is any indication, the story DLCs, as well as the Premium Edition cosmetics, will be available as standalone purchases. As such, it’s best to just get the Standard Edition at launch and upgrade to the Premium Edition later, granted you enjoy the game enough to do so.
